Are pickup trucks, SUVs or vans the best vehicles for people who love the great outdoors?

I plan on getting a house soon and I want to get a second vehicle for camping trips (I currently just have an '09 Honda Civic) but I'm not sure what would be best for that.

The greatest adventure SUVs and trucks of all time for people on a budget are specifically these vehicles.
1. 1984-1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ
This car has a very reliable 4.0 engine and is bullet proof. Make sure to find an unmodified and taken care of one.


2. 1996-2002 Toyota 4Runner.
This is arguably the best generation of 4Runner ever made. It’s very reliable with the 3.4 engine. Same deal here. Try to find one unmodified and taken care of with not such high mileage.


3. 2010 Ford ranger with the 4.0 V6 engine.
4. Honda CRV 2005-2006

Depends on where you live and where and when you want to go. Here in Washington the backcountry roads can be pretty rough, so you would want something that can handle that, like an SUV or truck with all-wheel drive.

Unless you're going off road there isn't a need for an suv. They can be handy on country roads in the winter or on those narrow lanes with grass growing down the middle. But for most people they're not needed.
Pick up truck? What you picking up? Great for farmers hauling stuff about but that's I.
I'd go for a compact campervan, there's usually plenty of places you can park up for free.

Trucks no competition, they can pull heavy loads, go off road, have for wheel drive and if you wanna go camping just turn the bed of into your camping area, if your truck bed is covered it makes for a great tent plus you can fit a mattress in the back if you got a long bed.

Probably an SUV. More options.

Have more than 2 people? Check.

Towing capacity? Check

Decent off-road ability? Check.

Ok gas mileage? Check.

Depends on what type of camping you're doing. I have a pull behind camper so I have a pickup truck. If your tent camping then SUV is probably the best.

Probably trucks. I grew up in the country and everybody had a truck.

I'd say a truck so if you want an RV in the future you have a way to haul it
