depends on where, how safe it is. I did it, but you are a woman. to be honest, if I did that in Europe... I'd be scared... because you can get very lost... and very screwed without support. the public transit system is designed by insane people.

A cruise can work well. like go to bahamas and get off the boat. I though nassau resort was really good and safe.

some places I wouldn't go now... like cancun.

Go for it! As long as you stay safe, don’t go out too late at night, be wary of your belongings and know the emergency numbers and nearest hospitals, you should be fine.

Learn about the culture. Avoid traveling alone at night. Carry a quality pepper spray. You're good to go.

That's Tokyos red light district, the cops don't usually go there, but the yakuza run it. You'll likely be either ignored, escorted back out, harassed or harmed.
