Do you think time travel will ever happen in the future? Why, or why not?

I guess something that might be inside the realm of possibility as we understand things currently would be to leverage the time dialation which occurs when you travel quickly through space, time will pass faster for e. g. people on Earth than in e. g. a spaceship 'flying to the future' by taking a trip around the solar system.

So presumably there will come a point where technology and personal funds allowing you could invest a bunch of money in a managed fund of somekind and then fly into the future where it would be worth more than it was previously once you have allowed for the cost of the space ship.

Or if you were a rich old person you might want to see your children grow up or someone be born etc, things of this nature.

Maybe you don't like your friends or the latest generation of idiots is pissing you off? 'Screw this' you might think, 'I am going to check out the next generation of assholes'.

You would have to travel very close to the speed of light though which is presumably very difficult.

No. Consider this: The Earth is constantly rotating on its axis. It is also revolving around the sun. The sun is also drifting away from the center of the universe. Let's not forget that tectonic plates beneath the Earth's surface are also moving, causing parts of land that were once above water to be under it and land under it to be above it.

That's a lot of moving parts. So to go back or forward in time, you not only need to know how to traverse time but also teleport physical location across space. Which means you have to calculate exactly where any given point was back at the target date so you don't end up appearing in the vacuum of space, the bottom of the ocean, or inside of the ground or a wall.

I think it could exist but it’s not something that will ever be available to the public. I think it would be something kept very secret, only a handful of people responsible enough will have access.

And to be honest, if it exists in the future then wouldn’t that mean it exists right now since they can travel back to this time 😳

I think there are people already doing it. I think it started with Mandela. Someone went back in time and prevented him from dieing in prison. I think someone has been altering the past for the last few decades, but hasn't yet perfected their technology, so people still have memories of the original time-line, hence the Mandela Effect

Nope, we would know by now. No way time travelers could go back in past and never be noticed, either by the people of the time they went back, on the traces they would have left and that would be seen in the future.

It's also physically impossible. But I'm too lazy to write why 😅

So no, you cannot travel back in time, and even if you could travel back in time, your actions won't change anything.
