I am travelling from Noosa, through Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, all the way to Byron Bay. I ve got my SUV and travelling on my own. I am a woman of colour, Asian ethnicity. I grew up in Sydney and have not travelled the countryside in northern states and towns.
Don't be offended, but I am hearing different opinions. Some people say Asian women shouldn't travel the northern states and countryside alone, because strong racism and Pauline Hanson supporters. Some towns are filled with addicts and white supremacists.
Want to hear opinions if that is true. I hope it is not like the movie Wolf Creek.

This is a bad place to post this because there isn't all that many people who are Australian on this site to even know Queensland or even about Australia.
You realise Pauline Hanson yes she is racist but that doesn't mean she or any of her followers will attack you. Most of us just tend to ignore what she says. Regarding the whole wolf Creek. Girl how long have you lived in Australia? The last serial killer we had I think was Ivan milat and he is dead now and most of the murders happening here are domestic violence related and gang related.
Last time I went to the Sunshine Coast there were a lot of Asians there. There were Asians who owned some of the retail stores around there. Never seen any racism towards anyone.
Regarding the addicts. Why are you so worried about them when you are surrounded by a lot of them in Sydney.
Thank you for the information.
I lived in America 2014-2018, and was in Sydney since then and during COVID.
I still think Australia is great, but seen plenty racial attacks on news since COVID, and have personally experienced some.
A lot of those racial attacks you are talking about mostly happened in America and that was F'd up. There is no doubt there is racism happening in Australia towards Asians but truthfully look around and get out more and you will see there is racism in every culture and race. I'm white and I went to Cabramatta I needed to use the toilet as I was pregnant and really needing to go and you should have seen the looks I was getting from the Chinese people who lived around there almost like they didn't like I was using the toilet. I felt really uncomfortable. I don't know if I turned a blind eye but I don't think I really ever seen an aussie hate on an Asian because of covid. I know many people were joking and calling it a Chinese virus but I honestly don't recall white Aussies hating on Asians or attacking them because of it but I do know it did happen in America. I do know many Aussies like myself turned on the government because of how they treated us during covid
If you are really that concerned go now before the 14th as I would say 90% of everyone in Australia is more focused on campaigning for the yes and no vote. if the yes vote doesn't get in which it is tipping it won't, there could be outrage that happens but that won't be directed towards Asians.
Thank you for the feedbacks.
One thing I love about North Queensland and NT is the indigenous culture, and I really hope there will not be an outage despite if it ends with Yes or No. I ve been to Cairnes years ago and also my family lived in a house own by an indigenous family in NT, they were absolutely great people.
Also my question is not only about race crime, but also girl travelling alone in general.
I truly think you will be fine travelling alone. Drive with your doors locked and if you have to pull over especially at night for whatever reason make sure you stop at places like petrol stations or mcdonalds where there is CCTV cameras. If you find yourself getting tired pull over at the rest stops or go to a motel and get some sleep. Always drive with your doors locked at all times.
Also regarding the yes vote. Switch off from the media that is mostly only reporting on those voting yes. Turn on the am radio and watch some tiktok videos you will find a lot of aboriginal people are voting no. Pay attention the only ones who are really pushing the yes vote are those who have like 2 % aboriginal in them or only half aboriginal. Have you seen aboriginal elders or those who are full aboriginal pushing people to vote yes? The answer is no why? Because so many aboriginal elders and those with full aboriginal in them are against the yes vote because it won't do anything to help them. Bugs me that people aren't listening to the real first nations people but instead listening to those who have very little aboriginal in them or have no aboriginal in them
Is this a troll post? What exactly is supposed to happen there, that you get robbed and beaten up by racist kangaroos? 🦘🦘🦘
Look up the news of violent crimes done to Asian women in Australia and America since COVID.
I girl got pushed down train track and died. The white woman did it said she was doing it to save the white race.
Asian shops smashed by stones in Sydney by white teens, and yelled they own the country. Asian girl got thrown beer bottles at by white men driving past, and turns out she is Japanese, not even Chinese.
No offence, just want to make sure the white supremacy and Asian hate has chilled out given COVID seem far away now.
@asker when has there been a lot of hate towards Asians in Austraiia? When and where did this incident happen with the white girl pushes the Asian girl on the tracks because I watch the news every night and I don't recall that even being reported on the news.
You do realise right now people's focus is mostly on the yes vote and arguments over it. Asian are far from people's minds right now
@asker I live in Sydney and seriously when and where did this happen all these things you are claiming happened?
@NotInterestedSorry
Firstly, I vote Yes.
I have the screenshots with me. Can send to you but the system not allow me. Please look up "Group of people attack 3 international Asian students in Australia in an apparent robbery and racially motivated attack"
You may also search "Singaporean student and friend hurt in racist attack in Melborne" The news dated 20 Apr 2020 by The Straits Time.
I cannot find the train attack news anymore, but it did happen somewhere in US. You should realise that police and white media in multiracial country like AUS a d US and try to hide the crimes done to Asians, just like they used to hide crimes done to Indigenous.
I know it's hard for someone to accept, because it hurts their ego to admit their success is through privilege.
@NotInterestedSorry Additionally, the Asian shop smashed was in Burwood. The police put little to none effort to it. I saw the damage and racist slur drawn with paint.
Again, no offence. I just wanted to make sure that these things don't happen to me and beware of my own safety in Queensland.
If you don't feel the same way, simply don't answer.
I feel all of these are horrible but isolated incidents. Don't be completely careless when alone, but all things considered, the wildlife might pose the bigger danger where you are traveling.
@asker what happens in America has nothing to do with Australia. If the police didn't do much it's wouldn't be be because they are Asians. My dad was bashed and the police didn't bother to do anything. They didn't go and arrest those that were guilty why? Because what's the point when the courts just always let people out and if they cry mental health they walk away from their crime Scott free even if they have no history of mental health issues
Thank you. You are probably right.
Haha... with the wildlife, I never travel at dark when travelling alone, because that's when kangaroos come out. Got my insurance to cover every possible thing, roadside assistance etc.
Again, no offence to country people, I simply want to make sure the places I travel to are safe. I still believe Australia is great, but some people sits in far-right spectrum.
@NotInterestedSorry
The far horrible news were in America, I agree.
I also agree that police are too soft these days because the court system is insane.
The racial attack to Singaporean girl was in Melbourne, so was the robbery and attack to 3 Asian kids.
I have read up on Pauline Hanson and One Nation, as I am interested in fringe/extremist groups. I have to say, for someone in business of riling up people that long, she is rather unsuccessful. Nigel Farage with UKIP did more damage in much shorter time.
