Going out on a limb here and hoping someone who’s lived here or is living here can help. I have just moved here and noticed a lot of the people are either young kids or much older. I’m just struggling to find people my age and was wondering if there are any places locals go to, to hangout? The only place I’ve really seemed to find people my age are the ones working at Pak ‘N Save, Woolworths, etc. 🤦🏼♀️
All advice welcome :)

Hi, fellow kiwi here! I have friends slightly older than you who also live in Whangarei, and they’ve told me that there’s really not much of a social life for young people there. A lot of people who live there are much older, settled down with families, etc. Its certainly not a young persons town from what I’ve heard. Perhaps you could try to use apps like Tinder or Bumble to find other young people local to you to make friends with? I’m not sure how else you would be able to find similarly aged friends… I lived in Wellington for a while a few years ago, and I knew no one there when I first moved there. I used tinder as a main way of finding friends, and finding people to show me around. I’m aware that it’s a dating/hookup app but it’s all about how you use it. You’re bound to find someone genuinely friendly on there if you make your intentions clear. Good luck!
I cannot answer the question as I'm an Aussie , and I'm in Thailand , but NZ is a beautiful place , and I wish you well there , enjoy.
