Have you had any delays during a vacation?

The room next to mine has taken the clean up guys over 2 hours to clean up and now I want to return to my room but can’t cause the staff do not have time to clean up the other rooms in the hotel. I want to go back so I can use the washroom and drink some water and recharge my phone and work on my projects and socialize.

It’s 4 hours and they are still cleaning that room and our room has not even been touched yet. It’s 3:00 p. m. They usually finish our room at 10:00 in the morning. There were 3 people or more cleaning that room. I’m beginning to wonder if there is a corpse in that room.

They have not cleaned our room in two days, they only replace our towels and our water bottles and leave the rest of the room untouched, I think they have a large backlog of labour cause they spent 4 hours on the room next door that day.

Did you check in early? They should have clean rooms available unless it's early. Or maybe they're a very poorly run motel.

I don't remember if I've had to wait on a motel room, but it's possible. For sure I've waited on planes, even overnight. I've had to wait on busses before, but not for long.

If they take two hours to clean a room, something is wrong. It shouldn't take nearly that long. Go push the front desk to get your room ready. Unless you arrived very early, there is no excuse for making people wait that long.

@update. So you were checking in very early. Normally check-in isn't until 4:00.

Yea, there may have been a corpse in that room, literally. It happens. Or maybe someone made a big mess. They could also be remodeling the room. Obviously something abnormal is going on.

We are at an all inclusive vacation hotel and our rooms get cleaned every morning after we leave to eat breakfast in the dining area. Today it’s almost dinner time and nobody has cleaned our room.

What is the front desk telling you? This is not normal so there must be a reason.

They might be remodeling. Or installing new carpet. If so, they should give you warning and/or provide you with another room while they do it. I've had to change rooms while they installed carpet before. But they gave us about a week's warning before they did it.
