Does anyone know about Türkiye? I'm thinking of organizing a trip there?

Here's what I know about Turkey from what I've heard:
- Culturally, they're quite conservative and religious compared to Europe. Be respectful of Islamic traditions. Don't show public displays of affection if you're a couple.
- Dress modestly, especially for women. Shoulders and knees should be covered at minimum. Loose, comfortable clothes are best.
- Turks are generally very hospitable and friendly to travelers. But they take nationalism seriously. Be respectful when talking about politics or history.
- Istanbul is a must-see - go to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Grand Bazaar. Cappadocia has crazy cave houses carved into rock cliffs too.
- Food is bomb - definitely try döner kebabs, lahmacun flatbreads, fresh baklava pastries. Don't skip the Turkish coffee either.
- Alcohol is expensive there 'cause of high taxes. Stick to water or tea if budget is tight. Also bring small bills for tips.
- Check advisories but most areas are safe to visit as a tourist. Just use normal big city precautions like elsewhere in Europe.
Let me know if you need any other Turkey trip tips! Sounds awesome, you'll have a great time checking out the culture and history for sure. Just be respectful of their traditions and values and folks will welcome you in.
No one has to dress modesty.
This is a free country and most Turks are secular, progressive people. We are not that conservative unlike what foreigners assumes to be.
As long as she or he walks around fully naked no one will give a shit.
*As long as she or he doesn't walk around fully naked
Turkish nationalism is secular and progressive, nothing like conservative nationalism you see on different parts of the world.
Our nationalization process is a little bit different.
Search about kemalist revolution and ataturk.
There are conservatives here aswell ofcourse (they are not nationalist though but islamist) but we learned to live together.
They already have been seeing Turkish woman dress revealingly on the streets everday with you or without you.
Its just like every other country.
There is not so much things you have to pay ettention.
Our morals, norms or taboos are not that different than rest of the world.

Just looking what other people write here. haven't been there. I only know Izmir and theme park Land of Legends (like Disney)
Touch base with @Nehir
he just made a post about the great things in Türkiye. Probably be great to bounce ideas from each other.
Goodluck to the both of you.
I'd make sure you've got men in the group and it's worth putting a fake wedding ring on. Otherwise you risk being sexually assaulted.
Ask around I think you'll find it's common advice. www.gov.uk/.../safety-and-security
That link is to the UK government site on advice to travelling to Turkey. It's a good reflection on how the west views the place.

As long as you don't say anything bad about our history, it won't be a problem. It's okay to dress however you want.
