It will depend on the weather the day you do the crossing and where your travelling from, the North Sea. English Channel, or the Irish Sea can be as flat as a millpond in good weather, If it is really bad weather the ferry sailings will be cancelled so if you are travelling from Europe the Channel Tunnel would be a better option.
Just get the Euro tunnel it’s far simpler than a ferry
