What is usually the first thing you do when you enter a hotel room you're staying in for the first time?

Okay, this is where people with think I’m crazy, but please bear with me. One of my best friends was at an a major hotel chain, and she just happened to notice a tiny memory stick in the bottom of a cheap UBS power brick next to her bed, as she was swapping it out for her better one! She immediately called the police, and although thank god she was not caught on it naked, other women were! It was motion activated, so it had caught days of “not-surprisingly” only young solo female guests changing, and doing things young women alone in hotel rooms do! So, now I always check the entire room. First with a UV flashlight to check it for cleanliness (like uncleaned urine around or even ON the toilet, and (of course, semen stains in, on, around, or near the bed). I once found that distinctive “squirt” pattern LITERALLY right across one of my pillows, with just a basic UV flashlight! I got a new CLEAN room, a full refund, and a free hotel stay, and a massive apology! You’d be surprised how easy it is to get a free night when you find semen on your pillow, or all over the chair! (Different friend same story!)

Then once I know there’s no pee everywhere, and no cum on my pillow, I use my Knight 9000 RF (radio frequency) detector, with the supplied hidden camera lens finder, (which REALLY works, to make sure there are NO hidden cameras in the room! My dad got me this, and to test it, he hid a hidden camera (the camera out of an old iPhone) in the living room 5. times, in 5 different places. I found it all 5 times w/in a minute! The camera detector makes the lens glow like a red laser!!!). (**Note*** This mostly applies to Air B&B’s) but still, even hotel chain employees can hide cameras in bathroom electrical outlets, smoke detectors, alarm clocks, regular clocks, power strips (especially on top of the bedside table) and USB charger bricks, I recommend every woman buy a RF detector, that comes with a camera lens detector. Or at the very least get a camera lens detector!

For about $150. I think the USA made Knight 9000 was an excellent option. (Although cheap copies are less than $80 on eBay) I literally get NOTHING for recommending this, and I feel you should get what you think works best for you. If you dont need the RF detector, save ur money and just get an LED Based camera lens detector! The UV lights, you can get on Amazon, for next to nothing or buy $15 worth of UV glue and it comes with a free UV Flashlight (plus you get some great glue for projects). Those three things can make your “Air B&B” say more comfortable, as well as making “regular hotel stays” more comfortable too... trust me! Just google “man arrested for hiding camera in hotel room”, then try “man arrested for hiding camera in Air B&B” and see just how many independent separate stories you find. Yeah $150 isn’t cheap. But how much is your security of knowing that some skeezy perv isn’t watching you pee, or shower, or bathe, or get dressed/undressed. OR WORSE, What’s that comfort worth to you? This one ⬇️ is the one I have. The pic is from the “how to” video. But the cheap Chinese copies will work too, when it comes too finding hidden transmitters. But most hidden cams record onto a micro SD card! So the Lens Finder will work either way!

This looks the same, & is sold under many names, on Amazon, mine was made in the USA. (The curly looking antenna on the right, is a magnet detector, for finding GPS trackers under your car!)

My answer is, that I’m guessing it was more of a case that whenever a young single (as in alone) woman checked in, they gave HER the room with the hidden cameras. That makes a LOT more sense to me than some complex AI algorithm w/ facial recognition in the cheap hidden cameras, that are STILL sold on Amazon! But then again, that’s just me, Katie. But I truly do thank you for the question.

@katiesmuff OMG RIGHT! by the way, did you google “man arrested for planting hidden camera in hotel room” and the same but with “Air B&B”? There are just SO many of them! And think about it… Logically those are only the ones who actually got CAUGHT!!! Either because the woman had a hidden cam detector like me (and a lot of other women I know have them, or (like my friend) who noticed the memory stick in bottom of the cheap USB charger, and she called the police! Although they didn't (or couldn't ) arrest anyone that night, they did investigate it, and used their "police magic" on the memory card and recovered EVERYTHING that had been erased from it, and they saw the face of the guy who planted the camera! Which for the record, was the night manager my friend told the police did it, because HE was in his office as she was checking in, as soon as he saw her, he relieved the desk clerk, and told her he could “upgrade” her to a “much nicer suite"! There were cameras in every room, all recording literally everything from different angles! So he was arrested a few days later! But if I were you, I’d still, get one of those lens detectors on amazon or ebay. They're cheap, and they really work. You really only NEED the camera lens detector, but I like having the RF detector, just in case the camera they have is well hidden, and is transmitting the video to a receiver somewhere in the building! It’s worth the $80. for the cheap one (like in the picture I posted) But if you can, get the Kinght -9000, I recommend that one. It’s well made, has a medal case, so it feels quality, not just a cheap piece of plastic, and it really works! Using it at home, I discovered my fridge actually has a WiFi signal… WHY? It’s not one of those smart fridges with a screen or anything , it’s just a friggin’ fridge… With WiFi ¯\_(ッ)_/¯ .

Other - I read the welcome booklet once and learnt not to freeze the air conditioning unit - imagine years later I heard some old timer lifer woman who's worked in hotels during a team group interview and she told us all how stories of "if you work in hotels you gotta know how to check rooms and call maintenance if some guest has frozen the internal air con unit" lol and I thought back instantly then to how big ego me "I for one in my head always read the instructions / welcome booklet, first" lol 🥇

Well that’s what I do, but I still check. Remember the first thing I mentioned was my friend finding a hidden camera in her room, and that was in a MAJOR hotel chain. So just be careful. It’s not paranoid when it’s really happening! Remember, it’s not the corporate owners who are putting these hidden cameras in the rooms, it’s the maintenance and cleaning staff!!!
