I love boats so its more appealing to me than the other distopian living options. What facinates me most is the part people aren't talking about. This is a cruise where you can rent a suite indefinately the package is just a marketing stunt. I heard about a floating city cruise bigger than this one with a similar concept.

The part nobody talks about is that the cruises will often be in international waters. And when they are laws do not apply so whatever the ship establishes could go. You see this with smaller boats here that are not allowed to have a casino / slot machine operational so they start them once they are in international waters and close them when enterring a nations territory where its not allowed.

So in theory if this kind of mobile city becomes a thing you can have boats specifically created to your ideology and then your not beholdend to any law except the boats. It would make for such a facinating TV show to have multiple boats each with their own world view and see how they go over time. The libertarian boat, the communist boat, the religious fundamentalist boat, etc. Give all these world views a boat and then document what the hell happens. Would be so cool.

It either will not get that bad, or there will not be another election in the US. A 4 year cruise just puts you in a worse situation then you are in now as it starts at $40,000 a year so for 160k with no guarantee it will ever get better seems like a waste of money to me.

Apparently the cheapest option is not that bad. I could afford it. $2500 a month for the room is of course pricey but to my knowledge thats all in except for food. So no internet bill, no electricity bill, no water bill, weekly cleaning service, etc. So if its that and then all you gotta do is pay for food thats doable. But you'd have a boat room indoors so thats going to be a 1 room without a window. Which is very unappealing especially at that price.

Did they specify the routes taken? How long they'll be out before stopping somewhere? Would they have discounts on food? How would you make a living on there?
