Do you enjoy the feeling of flying? Or is it something you dislike? Or maybe you feel indifferent.
I’m traveling on an airplane tomorrow, and I personally find it exciting. When I look out the window at the Earth below, it puts things into perspective for me, and I find it beautiful—something I don’t experience as often when my feet are on the ground. I sit and daydream the whole time, and let my mind explore its whole palette of emotions; I usually come up with a new idea for a painting, a print, or a sculpture. Plus, it’s entertaining to see how everyone else decides to keep themselves occupied, whether with a movie/show, or their phones and devices. 😁
Flying commercial airlines was fun when you could buy a ticket, show up at the airport and go straight to the boarding section at the last minute. People could even go with you to see you off. But it turned into a drag after 911 with TSA bullshit. And I refused to deal with it when covid mandates struck. So I haven't flown for several years. I think the last time was to Hawaii with my wife in 2014.
I love flying, though. My dad had a friend who took us flying quite a few times in his Piper Tri-pacer when I was a teen. Both front seats had controls, so he let me fly from the right seat and taught me how to make turns, do wing overs and simple stalls. He taught me how to take off and land and I even got to shoot some touch and goes (land and take off without stopping) from the left seat.
In my early 40s, a friend gave me a ride in his 1960s era Folland Gnat jet fighter/trainer. He had a hot shot test pilot take me up. I got to take the stick and roll it a few times. That guy gave me a crazy ride. Talk about exhilarating!
My dad was a WWI aero history buff and I grew up going to air shows with WWI (and WWII) airplanes, watching WWI & WWII airplane TV shows and movies, loving Snoopy and the Red Baron and building model airplanes. So doing aerobatics in a bi-wing airplane was a bucket list item for me.
Going up in that jet and in the Stearman were 10x better that the best theme park thrill ride.
I love flying on planes. In my career, I've flown over a million miles on commercial planes, to countries all over the world. I've had the opportunity to go up in a glider, and fly it for a few minutes, and also been up in general aviation planes. Now, about the only flying I do is when my wife and I fly to a remote destination, usually for a cruise.
When I was younger, I thought about being a pilot, but chose engineering instead. For many years, I flew flight simulators on my PC. I've since given that up.
Well, for you, it looks as if you see the earth above with the winglets of a Boeing B737 (most probably series 800) pointing down rather than up.
If that picture is not on its head, then you and all the travelers on board were in trouble but I presume you landed safely because I haven't read any information about a plane crash that flew upside down.
No, I dislike flying and I avoid it whenever possible. I dislike it because I had so many opportunities when I was younger to travel by air, given that one of my family member was an airline employee and I had the opportunity to go places practically every other weekend.
I much prefer to stay at home. No standing in line at the security line of an airport, no jet lag, no nothing. There is nothing like staying at home in your backyard where you are safe.

You definitely know more about airplanes than I do! 😁 I get what you’re saying though, I’m a homebody, too; nothing like the peacefulness and safety of home.

Fuck no! I’m a bad flyer. Makes me so anxious. Plus I watch FAR TOO MANY episodes of Air Crash Investigation & Mayday for my own good. There’s something so unnatural about being in a metal tube, sailing through the air at 550mph, & not having any control over it.

I like flying on airplanes but cannot stand dealing with airports i have not been on a plane since before 9/11 and will probably never fly again unless things change.
NO! I have traveled my entire life up until about 8 years ago. Never stayed anywhere long enough to put down roots. My father was career Air Force. I was career Army. Six corporate moves after the Army. I lived as an Ex Pat outside the US for a while. Constant travel in Fortune 100 and private equity jobs. I am done with travel. Been there / seen that / done that. No more commercial planes, private jets, military planes, helicopters, cargo ships, RoRo ships, cruise ships, trains, buses, or trucks.
It's my favorite way to travel. I particularly love first class. Only done first class once but it was amazing. Liked how I was treated in comparison. Not that I was treated badly on the other sections of the plane but first class is just so much better.
It looks beautiful at some points, but when you see the sky go down a bit and it looks like you are upside down--not such a good feeling. I aim terrified of heights, too.
