Many years ago I was on the island of Mallorca, Spain. I took tours of the Caves of Drach and the Caves of Hams. The Caves of Drach are almost 1200 meters in length and reach a maximum depth of 25 meters below ground level. In it is one of the largest underground lakes in the world, with bleachers next to it. You sit and boats sail by carrying and orchestra. The music sounds wonderful in the chamber of the lake.

The Caves of Hams has long trails underground with lighting all over that really show off the colors of the stalactites and stalagmites.

Both are popular and safe.

When I was young I indulged into speleology accompanied by an experienced speleologist. Narrow caves and narrow passages are part of that hobby. Often real challenges, but often also very rewarding, because of having succesfully dealt with the difficulties, and because of the wonderful things one encounters down there.

Once, after a night of exploring caves, when emerging through a very difficult passage at the time called "the fox hole", I had the surprise of facing a magnificent sunrise. It must have been around 3 or 4 a. m. Unforgettable souvenir. Imagine the state of mind after hours of nocturnal speleogy, and then at the end facing the beauty of dawn...

I used to be into it a long time ago, I doubt I'd fit now! I went down a pothole in Spain that took a 24 hours to reach the bottom and return. The longest single pitch was 90m, iirc.

Seeing things that no other person had ever seen before is pretty cool, and the stal can be amazing.

I used to like it a lot but there has been 1 cave that I went in which was so incredibly narrow that it gave me a claustrophobic feeling. I remember having to go down into a small crack with my head first and I got stuck while hanging upside down. It really terrified me

In my state we have many caves and when I was younger I could fit easily through cave’s but now that I am a little older and thicker I don’t think I could and maybe get claustrophobic but I still can walk through the bigger caves
