Why are people so obsessed with world travel?

Why do we feel the need to see new places and have different experiences?

Do you think it really contributes to a person's success?

I wonder if our ancestors 500 years ago ever felt the urge to travel... No, they didn’t. Every time I go on a long trip, I actually feel the opposite effect a FOMO. I believe traveling is just a product of consumer culture, not an actual necessity. We've internalized it so much that we now perceive it as a need. When someone travels and posts it on social media, everyone else follows like sheep, trying to mimic them. It’s all just a byproduct of consumerism.

What do you guys think?

When people used to say "traveling educates" they were talking about truly learning a new language or immersing oneself in a different culture. Of course, travel becomes significant when it serves a purpose like education, business, or creating a new source of income. But nowadays, most people travel just to buy the same experiences everyone else has already seen.
