Hotels lobbied for legislation to regulate Airbnb because the hotel industry was being undercut. The prices were always going to rise anyway. As Airbnb increased in popularity, hosts were aware that they were competing directly with hotels and knew that they could raise prices because travelers really only had those two options. That’s supply side economics. The hotel lobbyists only influenced increased regulation so that hosts who might undercut them in response to demand would be forced to raise prices in order to cover the new costs of regulation.
I remember when I was part of a group of 7 and we got an Air BnB with at least 10 bed rooms and some of those bedrooms were big enough for more than one person. It was in the middle of no where so we did not have a lot of options and chose in an over sized one because we did not find an option that contained exactly 7 bed rooms inside. They locked up all their plates and utensils to avoid theft, violence, property damage, and suicide, so eating food was a bit of a challenge, but we found a gas station near by that sold fried chicken with noodles and we got 3 forks there, 1 per family. That was our dinner at the Air BnB and we were there just there to have dinner, sleep and shower. I thought it was glamorous and cheap.
It depends where. In Europe and in European colonies, Air BnBs are cheaper. I guess it has to do with supply and demand. in Europe, they're more popular. In the U. S., not so much, so it's not profitable for the owner to charge lower prices.
It’s not my friend is visiting Berlin and it’s more expensive than hotels
Weird
And don't say "it's not" because I've been many times to Europe and research European islands.
So say, "not everywhere"
I remember when they were cheaper than hotels, 3 hotel rooms a small place with 3 bedrooms. Since it's direct compitition with hotels, I'm guessing the market is just sorting it's way out.
They always were. The hotel gives you the price up front. Where as the Airbnb would tack on extras after you left.
Airbnbs are larger than hotel rooms.
No not at all
They just rent a room in an apartment
What does airbnb means?
Probably because of insurance
