Chauvin's life was in no way in danger. The verdict was the right and just one and he now needs only to be sentence to an appropriate term in prison. As I understand it, under the sentencing guidelines he would get about 12 1/2 years. But the prosecution wants to send him away for 30. In theory, he could get as much as 85 years with all three sentences run consecutively though that is highly unlikely due to both the fact that it was a first offense as well as the fact that all three convictions were for the exact same act. I believe he will get something like 20 years on the 2nd degree murder charge, 15 on the third degree murder charge and 10 on the manslaughter charge and run concurrently. I believe he will therefore get 20 years and then get about five off for good behavior (because a cop would know how to work the system) and that would end up being 15 years. Of course an extremist governor could end up being voted in then commute Chauvin's sentence to a much shorter term or pardon him entirely.
Personally I thin he should get the full amount of time for 2nd degree murder which is 30 years and not be given any more time off for behavior beyond 3 years and then face life time probation/parole when he gets out.

If you actually watched the videos the way it played out is The Black and Asian Cop pulled Floyd over. Floyd was uncooperative with the Black cop. Asian guy ran crowd control. Black cop wrestled with Floyd to pull him out of the truck and then question him. Black cop tried to arrest him and put him in the back of the car. Flyod resisted against the Black cop and was taken out of the truck for a moment. Floyd pulled away and fell to the ground. Black cop kneeled on Floyd’s back/lungs. Derek as you call him showed up in a van and rushed over to assist in holding him down and called an ambulence to deal with an overdosed drug addict. Dereck knelled on Floyd’s shoulder. Paramedics took Floyd to hospital. Floyd died at hospital. Medical examiner’s report confirmed the drugs and lack of damage to neck. Body cam footage confirmed shoulder not neck. CNN brainwashed you with a camera tricks and hid the fact that the Black cop who knelled on Floyd’s back might have actually contributed to his demise by restricting lung volume. You dumb though and you believe the media camera angle trick rather than hard evidence...
When they had George Floyd down on the ground and handcuffed, there was ZERO danger to Derek Chauvin. I would say it was fair enough to hold him down until he was calm, but once there was no more danger, he should have got off of him and put him (Floyd) on his side.
Yes Floyd had a history, and for most of the altercation he posed a potential threat, but once they had him down and handcuffed the situation was totally different and he was no longer a threat.
George Floyd may have been and evil man, or he could have been a saint. Either way it's irrelevant. He's a human being and should be treated as such.
At that point (when Floyd was down and no longer a threat), their job was to arrest him, and not to judge him as a person.
Maybe George Floyds death was caused by an overdose, and nothing else. That's a maybe. I can admit without doubt that the drugs played a part, but I can't dismiss the actions of the officers. I think their actions contributed to his death.
That's why I think it's manslaughter. That's why I think they were negligent.
I'll use an example from the altercation. Remember the police were aware that he had no pulse. If you can have no pulse, and still pose a threat to four cops... fuck it! You win. You may rule over the world! I would not stand in the way of that level of badassery. If any police officer truly believes that a handcuffed man lying on his stomach, not resisting, and begging to be released because he can't breathe is a "danger to his life," then he is too much of a coward to be a police officer. However, Chauvin knew that Floyd wasn't threatening his life. He just simply wanted to exert his dominance and control over Floyd that day by putting a knee on his neck for ten minutes, which resulted in his death. He needs to be held accountable for his actions.
Perhaps from the mob realistically, they played a part in distracting him from doing his job. If Floyd was high on something else like PCP the situation would've been much much more dangerous, but since fentanyl is a depressant and Floyd is older and unarmed I'd say the cops weren't in much danger, but they didn't know that.
Nope.
You are eight times more likely to be killed by a cop than a terrorist.

Hence why the fear of police is very real.Lets get a few things straight here.
Floyd was a serial felon, he had committed armed robbery before, and was a career criminal.
He was caught passing counterfeit currency (which is a FEDERAL felony) while under the influence of a federally controlled substance. He was headed for jail, so he resisted arrest.
If you are a career felon and resist arrest I really don't care what happens to you, the guy was a thug and a menace to society.
The jury should have acquitted on all charges.he was "pleading" for his life 45 minutes before anyone knelt on his neck, and as the experts testified during the trial criminals lie about health problems aaaaaal the time
also; there is no medical data to prove floyd died from derek's actionsI'm a firm believer that Chauvin should see jail time, and I'm happy that he will. I also think that the prosecution did not overcome the reasonable doubt and intention standards to prove the murder charges. Manslaughter is enough to give you jail time. The whole situation is awful. It's not over either... such a tragedy.
the dude had 98% oxygen saturation in his blood at the time of death. Maybe you're not so smart, so I'll educate you. That means he was breathing. I have the same level in my blood according to recent tests and I don't have anybody on my neck. If the guy didn't want to die, maybe he shouldn't have taken 3 times the amount of drugs that are required to kill a person. But wtf do I know, I live in reality.
He wasn't pleading for his life, he was pretending to be claustrophobic.
This whole thing was awful enough. This is so incendiary. Like drop it.
No, His life was not in danger. We know now that it was George Floyd's life that was in danger that day. This was senseless, and did not need to happen.
That wasn't the case, technically that was done because the perp requested, and the perp chose to wait for the ambulance in such a state because he was claustrophobic.
Many aren’t aware that Chauvin had a bad scrape on his knee and was just applying direct pressure using girlfriend’s neck to stop the bleeding. Apparently a lot of cops know this first aid remedy.
No I don't. But I will always feel this killing had something to do with the nightclub they both worked at. He knew Floyd was a scum bag who was probably dealing drugs at that club, so he found a way to take him out and make it look legit.
No but I do feel like Floyd overdosed on drugs and was resisting arrest.
No but I think it would have been better for Del to pull his gun out and put one in this junkies skull
Would have been old news in 2/3 daysNo I just think it was a failure of police training
Chauvins life was not in danger at all. he's a cop, with a gun.
