Sandy Hook families suing InfoWars founder Alex Jones have won a case against him after a judge ruled against Jones who has failed to comply with the discovery process.
Jones and entities owned by him were found liable by default Monday in a defamation case against them.
Connecticut Superior Court Judge Barbara Bellis cited the defendants' "willful noncompliance" with the discovery process as her core reasoning behind the ruling. She specifically noted that they had not turned over financial and analytics data requested multiple times by the Sandy Hook family plaintiffs.
"All the defendants have failed to fully and fairly comply with their discovery obligations," Bellis said at the virtual hearing.
Judge Bellis said that she had held off scheduling Monday's sanctions hearing "in hopes these problems would be corrected" by the Jones defendants.
"While the families are grateful for the Court's ruling, they remain focused on uncovering the truth. As the Court noted, Alex Jones and his companies have deliberately concealed evidence of the relationship between what they publish and how they make money," said attorney Chris Mattei, who represents the plaintiffs. "Mr. Jones was given every opportunity to comply but, when he chose instead to withhold evidence for more than two years, the Court was left with no choice but to rule as it did today. While today's ruling is a legal victory, the battle to shed light on how deeply Mr. Jones has harmed these families continues."
Jones was being sued by families of Sandy Hook victims in both Texas and Connecticut courts over his past claims that the 2012 mass shooting was staged. He has since acknowledged that the shooting was real.
The case will now proceed to a hearing and damages as to the defendants, Bellis said. A status conference is scheduled for Wednesday.
I am upset. I agree with Alex Jones. The shooting was fake news and anyone you saw in pictures or videos was a crisis actor. This was all staged as an effort to take away our 2nd Amendment freedoms.
I am glad. Alex Jones is a POS.
This isn't enough. The parents whose children were murdered should each get the chance to exact revenge on Jones. And anyone who questions if the parents' actions are criminal will be told that the retribution inflicted upon Mr. Jones, no matter how extreme, was nothing more than a false flag.

I used to have to go to Danbury, Connecticut, right next door to Sandy Hook, for work. I would see all kinds of memorial decals on the back windows of cars with a name and lifespan dates of like 5-8 years. Saddest shit you could imagine, really makes it feel real to you, how that impacted the whole community, and it’s more than some story on the news. I’m sure the owners of those cars would love a word with Alex Jones.
I would like a few minutes alone in a room with Alex. And he can't bring his stockpile of cowardly assault weapons. I will lure him in with my wicked ass and then clamp down on his fat face with my cheeks of steel.
He deserves it. And America never had true freedom because having crazy people threatening and slandering people is bad. You have freedom of speech until you start slandering and threatening people. In order for a society to function you need sacrifice some of your freedom for security. The pizza gate situation is a good reason enough why he should have his freedom taken. Most countries are socialist as much as a lot of the right wingers like to believe American is capitalist. They just hear the word socialist and think it’s communism. If we have true capitalism we would have a Hong Kong situation. Hong Kong became so rich and wealthy, but as soon as China got jealous they just walked in and did what they want with Hong Kong. That’s because they have no military. We need the draft and we need to pay taxes for security. And I’m not left wing. I am a political atheist.
Trump, Beck, Spencer, Harris and other "professional bullshitters" will likely be bricking themselves as this opens up potential claims against them as well.
If they cannot bring their evidence before a court, then they should not be making claims or money based on it.
Look at the number of people in the poll that actually believe that the shooting was fake and the dead children were really actors. There should be a law that allows deporting anybody that stupid!

Crazy how everyone on the right is becoming extreme like this nut. I used to be huge into conspiracies 10 years ago and the way his website was run always made me ask questions about what he was trying to do.
I eventually came to the conclusion that these conspiracy theory nuts are just trying to make an easy dollar.
As a parent myself, I feel bad for the parents. Nothing will bring their children back.
The Judge gave Jones plenty of opportunity to cooperate with the discovery process. If he had, maybe he would've been exonerated, as it's not a crime to be delusional or a verbal dumbass or to believe nonsensical things. However, he didn't cooperate with the Court's requests during the case, so he lost.
To paraphrase Carlin: I hope Alex Jones dies. I hope he goddamn dies! I hope they find him behind the baseboard of a soiled bathroom in a poor neighborhood with his hand in T****'s pants!
When Jones started expressing his opinions it was primarily about 9-11. Much of what he said I agreed with. Since then he's gotten into the drugs pretty heavily and is making a total ass of himself.
Alex Jones should be removed from TV or whatever Radio Station and not allowed to be on there and why the FCC doesn't control him more is beyond my knowledge he is a nutjob for sure
The case of Alex Jones believing Sandy Hook shootings being staged isn't an example of hate, from my perspective.
I know hate, being both a native and from the Caribbean, I've experienced and been targeted by hate both there and in the US. My family was all but extinguished and my native people nearly extinct because of it only a few decades ago. This is nothing more than callousness, ignorance, and foolishness on Alex Jones' part and he's rightfully being sued for damages over it. My kid never went to Sandy Hook, thankfully, since it's only a few miles away from where we lived.
I'm not saying he's the perfect example of a human being either, but this case involving some level of hate? no, I don't see it.
As such, based on the outcome of this case, I gain nothing nor do I sacrifice anything.
To rid the world of hatred and lies is a worthy goal, but realistically, we'd have to do away with human beings.
So he killed the kids? So what he said will motivate more school shootings? He gave an opinion on his show and no one should get money for that. Families should sue shooters for money.
I see. So if someone murders your mom and Alex Jones says on his for profit podcast that it never happened and that you, Mr. Burns, made it all up and then nobody wants to do business with you on your Etsy site anymore because of that, you will be totally fine with it.
It is not a crime to have an opinion. But when you start telling people things that are not true, you are liable, as this case proved. If you are going to tell people that things are true, you better be sure, or you will be paying for defamation of character, among other things. And if Jones believes any of that nonsense he spews, he is crazy as a loon!
