6 Amazon warehouse deaths were confirmed after its collapse during a severe storm in St. Louis
A wall the length of a football field and the warehouse’s roof collapsed. Around 100 emergency vehicles descended upon the fulfillment center where dozens of workers were reportedly trapped.
One of the victims who was killed when a tornado collapsed an Amazon warehouse in Illinois texted his girlfriend before the deadly tornado struck saying that the company had ordered him to hold off driving home and stay put until the storm passed.
Larry Virden, 46, was killed Friday night when the roof came down at a massive Amazon facility.
Virden, who had worked for Amazon for five months, was the father of four children, including adopted children, and the couple of 13 years had three children together between the ages of 9 and 12.
Now he and many other Amazon employees are dead due to amazons negligence
Later this year Amazon has also faced legal charges for illegally firing activist workers Emily Cunningham and Maren Costa, who were outspoken critics of its climate policies and labor practices.
Amazon’s also been caught by the NLRB for illegally stopping workers from unionizing.
I’m honestly just not supporting Amazon at all at this point, they’re a disgusting company and it’s sad that they care more about money than their own employees safety and well being. What do you think?

People don't seem to understand tornadoes and tornado warnings. Tornadoes are extremely random. There is no way to predict when, where or if they will hit.

A tornado *warning* means that a tornado has been spotted. You do not get warnings before it forms. You get warnings after it forms.
A tornado *watch* means the conditions are right for a tornado to form, but they have not actually formed or been spotted.
When there is a tornado warning, you have no idea where it might hit, or if it will hit at all. It just means that a tornado has been spotted somewhere in a wide area. The odds of it hitting you, or even coming close to you are extremely slim.
When you get a warning, it basically means to be more alert and have a plan where to go if it comes directly at you. Being outside is the worst place to be. Wherever you are, whether it's at work, at home or at the grocery store, your best bet is to stay where you are and know the safest place in the building. You do NOT leave and go someplace else because that's putting you in more danger. Plus, you have no idea where else to go that will be safer because you have no idea where it might hit.
All this stuff about people being told to stay at work is a witch hunt. Staying there is what people SHOULD do, not go running off.
That's a completely different subject. I don't know anything about wasteful practices, so I can't address that. As for unions, if they can prevent unionization then good for them.
Don't get me wrong, I hate Amazon and think it should be broken up. When I buy stuff online I check lots of other places before I buy at Amazon.
I never supported Amazon - or anything similar for that matter. Plus: If my only job opportunity would be to work for A'zon - then dying in a tornado perhaps is the better option.
Lol. Does it surprise you nobody cares? Nobody is gonna stop funding them. People don't care. As someone who as worked for Amazon plenty, I can tell you they don't care about your safety. The #1 thing they want you to believe is that safety matters but I promise you it doesn't to them. All actions indicate the opposite. But I will say they are light years ahead of many other companies when it comes to safety. I seen some extremely dangerous things normalize at other companies. Amazon is the safest I've seen which is pretty sad. We all must stop expecting modern day slavery to be anything but.
No because in event of a fire or active shooter, you try to evacuate the building.. in extreme weather, you shelter in place... That's usually the standard protocol for most companies I've ever worked at. They usually have designated places in the building to shelter... You can't hold Amazon responsible... Natural disasters happen, tragedies occur as a result.. As my heart goes out to those that lost their lives and their loved ones, I won't blame or boycott Amazon (though don't really shop Amazon)
It was not Amazon's fault it was the fault of incompetent people people that cannot think about anything but making themselves look good and look what they did did you destroy themselves by doing what they did when I work for somebody I don't like bosses and I don't like supervisors because there are people most of the time that don't understand what they're really doing they get put in that position to be about your supervisor and they don't understand when I hire people I tell them the very first day if you ever call me boss or if you ever call me supervisor you're fired I hate those two names if I ever go to work for somebody they are going to be a leader either that or I'm not going to work for them are they better let me have my way Amazon just hired the wrong people that's all I know the owner of Amazon was there he would have told everybody to go home a leader he's smart you don't keep people in a metal building when the wind is blowing 190 mph you take shelter Underground that metal will catch you up in a heartbeat he will chop your head off your Arma it'll go right through you you get as far away as from that metal as you can possibly get
I think it's impossible to blame one person or Amazon as a whole for this. Definitely have some issues to address

If you're inside when a massive tornado hits, your best bet is to stay inside. Going out into your car is about the worst thing you can do statistically if you want to survive.
Of course, even then there are no guarantees. Clearly this was a massive tornado and even staying inside didn't help these folks. But to be clear Amazon was hardly "forcing" people to stay in to work. They were following safety protocols.
In my old job (UPS) we used to have like trenches (it was basically a tunnel but everyone called them trenches) it was designated as a tornado safe place since it was concrete built and it was cemented top covered after I was transferred to another warehouse they didn't have the trenches that's the problem with the new warehouses they dont have trenches for their workers for tornadoes if Amazon would've had those trenches no lives would've been lost
bezos is a disgusting excuse for a human being without this soo most people will just carry on lining his pockets and helping him destroy the planet as usual because afterall they do offer next day delivery

Had Amazon told the workers to leave and they got caught up in the tornado and died , people would have accused them of negligence for letting their workers leave during a tornado. This was a natural disaster, which is very tragic , but pointing fingers here in hindsight is unfair.

I didn't shop from Amazon to begin with only because I'm not really attracted to their products. As for the workers it's very sad and very preventable...
Honestly I don't blame Amazon, I blame the person who told the other workers to stay. Emily Cunningham and Maren Costa, as for these two people. I have no evidence or anything to say about that so their I won't agree or disagree. As for the last bit, well I do blame amazon for that and they should be held accountable. I would still used Amazon because they have good products but I am not willing to pay for the sub so I don't bother with it anyway
I don't blame amazon. But I do think the person who told them to stay was trying to keep them safe, it's just a shame it didn't. They'd have been battered by it if they left too.
That tornado was a Cat 5, which means 200mph winds. So they were screwed either way. If Amazon had built a basement with a heavy door that locked securely, than they probably would have survived.

Amazon and a ton of other companies are scum, but if we were to avoid every company that had unethical practice, that would severely limit what we could use. I think if anything, we need to try to get the right people into power to deal with this.

They are a multibillion dollar corporation. They really don't need my support lol. Will I still do business with them? As much as I did before.
