While it's good that Amber Heard lost, I think we owe it to her for helping society realize that the hashtag #BelieveAllWomen, which spawned shortly after #MeToo, is dogmatic and innately flawed. She exploited the movement to her advantage and we all know why she chose to do that. We hear it in the audio recording where she challenges Depp to report her, being a man and she a woman. I think every woman knows just how much power they have, but they aren't usually going to admit it as then that'll relinquish their ability to claim they are lacking privilege and are still oppressed in westernized cultures.
Johnny Depp was in this mess precisely because Amber Heard, as a woman, is given sympathy by society due to this double standard which exists wherein women are deemed deserving of protection while a man's behavior is viewed as ad inevitable or biologically determined, or basically, he is inherently predatory and evil just because of his gender. This stereotype only served to help Heard while effectively cancelling Depp, and it turned out he was the victim the entire time. Back in 2016 when she first made her accusations, the thought of Depp abusing Heard seemed believable even without sufficient evidence, simply because he's male and she is female. This is a dumb narrative that needs to stop before it does turn into a cultural thought pattern.
The amount of people who once supported Amber Heard's false accusations, who we then saw backpedaling to support Johnny Depp once he was able to prove himself innocent, was laughable. Because while he deserved the support, it still proves that people, namely men, are guilty in the view of public opinion until they can prove themselves innocent. We need to return to the "innocent until proven guilty" system, and that starts with people unlearning their biases and prejudice and looking at all the facts before immediately condemning someone.
And Depp was fortunate, because he has the wealth and the resources to prove himself innocent. Most men would not be able to prove their ex-wife abused and defamed him, and she'd get away with ruining his social life and ending his career. I know of some family law and criminal defense attorneys who can share more than a few stories of men suffering from a woman's false accusations. People like to say "FalSe aCcUsAtiOns aRe rARe!" but I think it's more that society is not ready to talk about the possibility that perhaps false accusations, as well as violence towards men, and even misandry, is more common than we think. Misandry itself is so socially tolerable that it goes completely unnoticed to the point that it seems nonexistent. But you can see it all over Facebook and Twitter, to name just two social media platforms where that type of hatred is acceptable.
My thoughts are that the outcome of the trial is good but the entire dramatic spectacle, from beginning to end, revealed a lot of issues between men and women that nobody really wants to talk about. These issues still persist even with Depp's triumph. Johnny Depp's victory, unfortunately, is not going to help other male victims until the way men and women are treated is more equalized.
People in the replies have brought up feminism a few times. I saw a lot of feminists supporting Amber Heard, while I saw many other feminists supporting Johnny Depp. If feminists actually do care about men, contrary to what many other people believe is not the truth, then their lectures need to start including men in on the conversation. Historically, feminism has never been about men. Or even transgendered peoples. And this lack of inclusivity, speaking for men, has them feeling abandoned and insignificant. It's not going to be good for the health of society if men lack confidence.
He technically won by getting more money which is good for Johnny, but still pisses me off that Amber Heard got $5 million in her suit. She should have gotten nothing, but the jury awarded her cash based off a technicality which shows how fucked up our system is.

I get irritated with celebrity gossip. Also this was a civil case not a criminal case. It just involved already rich people fighting over money and Hollywood career opportunities.
However this was a perfect example of how #metoo was weaponized and abused to give shitty sociopathic women special advantages particularly when it comes to attacking innocent (or at least semi innocent) men.
I call Johnny Deppe “semi innocent” because he obviously no saint. He’s got serious drug, alcohol and anger issues. I’m sure he did some crappy things during his marriage with Amber Heard. But for Amber to use #metoo as an opportunity to grossly mischaracterize him, gaslight him (when Amber initiated most the abuse) and take advantage of the liberal media to further her own financial gain and career goals is PRECISELY what so many people warned about back in 2018 during the #metoo witch hunt phase. While there are piece of shit men out there like Harvey Weinstein (who had it coming times 100) there are without a doubt shitty sociopathic opportunistic women.
If modern feminists want real change they need to call out shitty women. But most of them don’t. Why can’t they? Don’t they realize that men will respect them more if they took the time to look at the mere FACTS of each accusation vs. immediately jumping to “believe all women” insane bs conclusions? Obviously most women aren’t that stupid. But is it the worst ones are always in position of mass influence (media and journalism)? There are dumbass “white knight” men too.
Just because I side with Deppe that doesn’t mean I won’t call out the proven POS abusers like Weinstein. But why can’t modern feminists accept that?
What I've seen - admittedly not much - of the trial seemed to show Depp as a guy who's acknowledged his own flaws, but spousal abuse isn't one of them.
Heard's video "evidence" actually looked to me like it backed his side not hers. Her responses appeared rehearsed and poorly executed and occasionally like she wanted her lawyer to say "cut - can we do that again" while Depp's felt natural and his eyes were engaged, showing more subconscious reactions.
I've seen several celebrity trials over the years involving women or children claiming abuse that were proven to be false accusations. I questioned the Bill Cosby stuff at first but it proved alarmingly accurate. In the UK the case against Jimmy Savile was airtight and saw one of my childhood heroes destroyed while the case against Sir Cliff Richard was obviously false from the outset. This felt like Heard was trying to jump on the "metoo" bandwagon while actually Depp was more of a victim in this case.
She was abusive in her female-female relationship before Jonny Depp... not a Hollywood secret that nobody likes working with her as well... it played out just like I thought it would. I really think she was just trying to play into the #metoo stuff and set actual victims back. Basically a track history of not being all that great in relationships, you can see the cringe other movies stars are feeling in interviews, and she's overplayed that feminism card for a long while... Narcissistic af because a normal chick that's just out for the take would get her payday from the man and not write an article to make things look a certain way.
I’m glad this mess is over and he won I think it’s a huge step for men that are abuse victims to stand up regardless of being a man and probably not being believed. I hate that we live in a society that still thinks men can only be the abusers not the one abused
I rooted for him. I choose him over that psycho narcissist any day. Especially since I know how it is to have dealt with narcisstic abuse. This is a win for the truth, the good name of justice and all the victims out there who had been dealing with false accusations. Not that I will hold my breath, but hopefully this will help make certain individuals out there think twice before they decide to attempt to destroy another person's life unfairly.
I find that it's mostly misandrists, toxic feminists and their allies who were rooting for Amber Heard for no other reason than her being a WOMAN. So when it comes to them, I'll be drinking from my special mug the upcoming days
I see it as a sign of hope that society is finally ready to begin moving past the default view of gender issues where women are always seen as the victims and men as the perpetrators. I believe this verdict is a direct reflection of the backlash against the "believe all women" bullshit that came out of the MeToo movement, and against modern feminism in general.
Since the verdict was announced yesterday I have read a lot of articles by, and comments from feminists who view the verdict as a "setback for women everywhere", a clear symptom of the gynocentric nature of modern feminism. Anyone who thinks feminism stands for equality, as it claims, if a fool.
Personally neither of them are saints in this relationship.
But equally if comes across like she was a crazy gold digger, whilst he was bamboozled by her youth.
Unfortunately they brought out the worst in each other.
Heard is incredibly immature, and depp well I hope going forward he will stay sober and be more cautious about who he gets involved with.
I do hope that as a consequence of this companies don't blacklist him like they did and start to help Jim rebuild his life again.
Because he was unfairly accused of domestic violence. His behaviour from what I see may have been reckless especially from the drug point of view but I'm yet to understand the violence she accused him off.
This trail served its purpose which was to expose the lies spun and the volatile behaviour of a vindictive person.
Narcissistic people espicially women like to play the victim, they have no guipt or remorse for the shitty stuff they've done and hate even they are exposed. They often seek to build their life on foundations of an ex they've destroyed. Johnny wasn't supposed to fight back, he was supposed to lie down and die after their relationship ended and told hanous lies about him.
This is why it's important rather than believe all women but to question it because there's a lot of women out their like Amber Heard who use their gender and the #metoo movement to empower themselves using lies they've heard from real victims.

Because I remember when it started and her accusations where initially believed. people believed he abused HER. Not until he produced overwhelming evidence to the contrary did most p throw him support. He was assumed guilty till proven innocent.
2nd reason is this story is all too common to other men, and in my book 1 celebrities essentially open and shut case pales in comparison to the thousands of men who's stories didn't end as well.

She simoly olayed way dirtier abd had to pay the piper. I've never liked Heard and totally got over Depp eons ago. Now let them go get the help they both desperately need.
I only saw a very small amount of it but the impression I got is that Amber Heard probably has BPD / bipolar something like that and I find it very surprising that even though both people are not just rich but involved in business where you would think it would be in the industries interest to try to make sure that their stars were stable and yet the problems that she has have gone completely unaddressed?
Perhaps I am just lacking information because I didn't watch it but I did her Johnny Depp speaking about her briefly and although he was aware of her instability he didn't seem to be capable of offering her any kind of support or help with this.
I just would have thought that with the resources available they both would have had more support.

I am extremely happy for him. He wasn't perfect in the relationship as even he himself admitted that, but we can all tell Amber is a pathological lying nut job. She literally gave me bad feelings just watching her cringeworthy testimony.

That's about accurate as I can put it before it becomes stuff I don't know because I wasn't there or bias feelings towards one actor over the other.
Shrugs, I'll wait to see if Johnny or Amber get called abusive again in there next relationship which would show with little doubt there is something wrong with that person. But it wouldn't shock me at all if both or neither are claimed to be abusive in the future.
Neither one of them is perfect but I am glad he won. She really lied about a lot of stuff and does not represent anyone who has really been a victim of domestic violence. She is the kind of person who a real victim loathes because this is the reason they aren't sometimes believed.

Sure, he's got some "human" problems, who doesn't, but no more than the Average Joe and at the end of the day he's a genuinely good guy with a big heart.
There are some actors who are turds, but some, like JD, Cathy Bates, Danny Trejo, and Steve Buscemi just to name a few, are actually wonderful humans who make me wish I hadn't left that world.
So when can we extradite her to Australia to face charges there? Something something illegal dogs and charity fraud. Or did everyone forget about that? Also, she needs to answer for the YouTube channels she destroyed. We need to keep getting her for everything, until she needs a guard watching her every minute, to ensure she doesn't self-harm. No one I’ve ever met or saw online was ever on ambers side, y’all saying “feminists this feminists that” are starting fake arguments that are unnecessary and don’t exist. Anyway, to answer the actual question, I’m glad Johnny won the case, wish Heard got more consequences and the trial was more private, idiotic kids and glorifying the situation and making it as if it was a joke. She only has to pay a $15M fine? Seriously? That’s like nothing for her. With that many false allegations she should be locked up. I’m glad he won and I understand this was a different sort of defamation case but she genuinely thinks she’s right and that’s concerning, money doesn’t sound like it’ll cut it.
I'm glad he won, I've been in a relationship before with an extremely abusive woman, and nobody believed me until i recorded her. She knew I'd never raise a hand to her, and because i was a boxer and very physically strong and capable, she knew that nobody would ever believe me if i said anything.
So I'm glad that she's not got away with it.
Amber Heard's legal problems may not be over just yet. If we have any Aussies in here they will tell you that "glassing" is a serious crime that can get you YEARS in prison in that country. I don't think there is any doubt she did throw that bottle at Depp. I also think Heard may also have some issues with perjury in regard to her dogs.
