I don't think anyone is willing to go to nuclear war, especially the people surrounding Putin. They'd sooner assassinate him than let Putin get all of Russia killed by US nuclear retaliation. I think some people are just overly paranoid.

I think this is part of the problem the Democrats have. I think it's clear that the vast majority of people now understand that they would rather have mean tweets, prosperity, less crime, secure borders and world peace than feigned niceties, rampant crime, economic ruin and the threat of nuclear war. I don't think they will be fooled a second time.

If you want to make an omelet you have to crack a few eggs. That's exactly what Trump did and the entire country became better off for it.

The Democrats are so filled with envy and hate that they would rather destroy the economy and cause immeasurable suffering for tens of millions of people than see Trump's effective policies win.

It isn't as though Putin has a launch button. The sub's Captain, XO, and possibly weapons officer all have to agree, and that's if such an order even made it past the admirals, who would likely choose to knock off one man rather than kill millions and cause the destruction of their homeland.

Simple but not necessarily right. There are a lot of people in the Russian government who are 100% behind and loyal to Putin and feel the same way that he does that Ukraine (and a lot of other countries in the region) belong to Russia and they are willing to do whatever needs to be done to get them back. They see it like America would see it if some foreign country was occupying Texas, California, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado. Putin doesn't allow traitors to hold those positions. He hand picks every one of his top government officials and military leaders and you can be sure he is well aware of the chain of command that handles the nukes and has made sure that everyone in it is loyal.

I heard a US military general today saying that there is movement of Russia's tactical nuclear weapons towards Ukraine.

So simple? Not really. It's very complicated. Could go either way.

Add to that that the US president is mentally disabled and there is no evidence at all that he is engaged in diplomatic activities to stop the war. In fact there is a lot of evidence that his behavior is not only what caused the war to happen in the first place, but has been escalating it every step of the way. His Secretary of State should be concentrating his entire office on this 24/7 and so should Biden. They should be doing everything diplomatically possible to deescalate and talking with both sides to reach an agreement night and day. But there is crickets. Instead all they are talking about is gender equity and abortion.

If Putin is backed into a corner... and he is very very close, it could happen. Russia's military code allows for the use of nuclear weapons if their territory is under attack. And they are claiming that it is.
