It went total here about half an hour ago but, by that time, it was already beyond the horizon so, I never got to see more than the start of the partial.

Nope, I was in my birthday suit in my backyard, my wife was in bed sawing logs.
I promised to wake her if there was anything to see, lunar-wise anyway. She's seen my birthday suit. It gets a bit more ragged every year.
I woke her for the last lunar eclipse a while back, which was pretty significant, as well as to see the deer in our yard a few times lately.
I'm the night owl in the family.
I'm also the freak in the family. A title which I must honestly claim, maybe not proudly, but which is realistically accurate.

Why doesn't she iron it from time to time to keep from getting ragged.
I get deer in the back yard all the time. They're always roaming all over the area. Throw them some apples. Bunnies and chipmunks are usually in the front yard.
So am I, I rarely ever go to bed before sunrise!
I guess I'm also the freak but in a nice way.
Well, the Sun's up! I should get to bed. My coffin's ready and waiting for me.

The cool astronomical stuff is always visible from America only and I live on the wrong side of the planet, so I don't bother with trying to catch even a glimpse of the event.

Oh, there's been quite a few that were only visible in Hawaii or Australia or South America. and, half the time we get them here, we end up with incredibly shitty weather so, we can't even see them!!
I didn't get to see anything but the very beginning of this one! By the time it was full, the moon was over the horizon and couldn't be seen, anymore!

On our side of the planet eclipses are never full, so tell me - did the night become a day during the full Moon eclipse? I've always wondered if that was just a Hollywood's sci-fi moment or a real event.

I've never heard of that. Seems to me, the night would be almost completely black during a lunar eclipse. Supposedly, you'd get to see more stars and most things shooting across the sky.
The next one will be in April and the next will be either Aug. or Oct.. I think that one will be a solar. You should be able to watch them live online via an observatory.

Neither did I. I just stumbled upon that live video about 2 hours ago. They're still showing it in full eclipse right now which will; last another 40:00.
