Last night in Chesapeake VA there was a shooting at a Walmart that ended the lives of 7 people including the shooter. Do you get worried that other incidents might happen if you're a worker during the Holiday Season?
I never used to think about that stuff, but I actually visited that Tops supermarket in Buffalo that had that mass shooting in the spring, my old company at my last job had product in there. Wild to see the video (graphic!) and see people shot down literally on spots where I’ve stood. Same doorway I walked in, same customer service desk area I had waited in line at to speak to a manager, two women shot down at the beginning of an aisle I’ve walked right past. Just bananas. We haven’t really had one near where I live (although Sandy Hook, CT is just a few hours from here), and it’s almost like I’m just waiting for it to be our turn. I get some of my groceries from the Walmart in my town every weekend, and it could happen there and at a time I’m in the store just like it could happen anywhere else and to anyone else. Scary shit when you think about it.

I got shoved over and stepped on several times when I was a little girl on a Black Friday sell at a store.
So yeah, holiday season is a pretty scary time. I can imagine all those people charging in, stomping employees to death... or throwing fits because the item they wanted, was only one per store.
I don't do black Friday shit cause of that... seems like large crowds would be the perfect target for a shooter, or a car... see along line of people waiting to get in, run them all over.
I'm not in retail or restaurant worker right now, that is just my fear as a customer. Especially considering how business lie so much, they could set someone off.

I would not be less aware and less prepared because it is a holiday or not
You still have to go to work. There is no hazard pay in retail or restaurants.
We paid taxes to keep ourselves safe but apparently not.
Yes, in this day and age it's best to be careful you just never know about a shooter out there
