https://www.youtube.com/embed/8lMOL7GaPWII’d probably take a little more issue with the American colonists’ treatment of native people, but you can definitely make the argument that people willingly migrated to a known colony of an imperial superpower (the positive attitude towards imperialism itself was really the greater issue, though), and then acted all indignant when they were treated as the colonial subjects they should have known they were signing up to be, or at least what their parents had birthed them into. I understand the desire to feel represented and have some measure of self-governance, but that’s just not what colonies are, whether that’s good, bad, or ugly. Always two sides to every story, for sure, but in the US, we only get taught from the perspective of OUR side. I always wonder if and how it’s taught in UK schools, haha.

America is where slavery and bigotry came TO DIE.
Slavery was practiced all over the world in those days. Blacks in Africa invented slavery. They were at constant war with each others tribes and they captured and enslaved other blacks when they defeated them. They TAUGHT white people how to engage in slave trade and sold their fellow black Africans to America and a whole lot of other countries around the world.
In fact, there is more slavery in Africa today (blacks enslaving other blacks) than anywhere else in the world. It is one of the few places where mass slavery still exists.

I apologize because I didn't notice your age. I don't mean to be so critical because it really isn't your fault. You are a victim of a fake education that didn't teach you anything about the real history of America or the world. If you open your mind and study some of the other facts about America's past you will learn the truth about what an amazing, beautiful one of a kind nation America is. You have to get past the anti-American propaganda to see the truth.
There is a famous saying about how to tell whether a country is good or bad. It says that all you have to look at is whether people are trying to get in or trying to get out of it. And there is no country on earth that more people are desperate to get into, including people of every race and religion, than the United States of America, the place where more than 600 thousand people (more than in any other American war) lost their lives in a battle to end slavery in the Civil War and the place freedom was born.
It is great day a day of Independence from tyranny, being able to worship our God, state what we want about our government without repercussions.

I think sometimes we should have stayed part of the British Empire, we probably would have been a much more respectable, better type nation like Canada, Australia or New Zealand. Instead we have become a cut throat, out of control capitalism, exploit every thing, use it, drain it, fuck it, then sell it to the highest bidder. No universal health care, where 5% of the population controls/ owns 90% of the wealth, Corporations and the super rich don't pay their fair share of taxes, any thing for the profit and the almighty dollar even if it takes destroying our environment and creating monsters like China and AI that might kill the creater one day. Where motherfuckers like Trump and Biden can get elected. Happy July 4th.
