First of all Jews lived in the area called Palestine (it was never a country, just a baron area of desert) for thousands of years before Islam even existed. That's right... Jews were the first Palestinians. The name was stolen from them. There were Jewish, Christian and LATER Muslim Palestinians who lived on that land. Jews lived there continuously from ancient times right up until today.

Jews started BUYING UP LAND THERE in the 1800s. Some of it they bought from Palestinian Muslims and some from Egypt who owned some of it. Egypt was glad to get rid of it because it was nothing but wasted desert before Israel was formed and turned it into a beautiful resort oasis in the desert. Then suddenly all the Arabs wanted it back.

The League of Nations (the forerunner of the United Nations) LEGALLY granted Palestine to Britain who intended to turn it into a Jewish homeland to finally have someplace in the world where Jews, the most persecuted minority in history, had a long history and could call home. After Jews were murdered and run out of every Arab country in the Middle East where they lived since antiquity, they would finally have a tiny sliver of their homeland to live in.

1949 was the year that Israel declared its independence based on the land it already purchased and the legally granted land it acquired from the League of Nations. They asked ALL the Palestinians including Christians and Muslims to stay and welcomed them to help build the country. To this day 20% of the population of Israel is Muslim and they are full citizens with every single right and privilege as any other citizen. Contrast that with Gaza and the Arab countries most of whom don't even allow Jews to ENTER their country much less live there. There isn't one single Jew or Israeli in Gaza (yet they are somehow "occupying it" by osmosis).

Muslims already hated Jews long before 1949. When Israel declared independence, the Arab countries told the Palestinian Muslims to leave Palestine temporarily. They said not to worry, they would wipe out every Jew and then they could return. Many of the Palestinians left thinking the Jews would be wiped out. But it didn't go down like that. The Arabs attacked and Israel, outnumbered 100 to one KICKED THEIR ASSES.
Many Palestinian Muslisms did NOT follow the Arab's advice and leave Palestine. They stayed and are STILL LIVING IN ISRAEL IN PEACE GENERATIONS LATER. They have a far better life in Israel then they would in Gaza or in ANY of the Arab countries of the Middle East.

Too bad for the ones that left. No way Israel is going to let them live there again after they left under those circumstances. If you come in peace you are welcome in Israel no matter your religion, race or nationality. But if you come to commit barbaric acts of terrorism as the surrounding Arabs and the Iranian government have been doing you are dead men walking. They will not tolerate it anymore. The election took place in 2006. The average life expectancy of a Palestinian is 30 (thanks for Israel) and half their population are kids. Nased on this knowledge, we can deduce the vast majority of Palestinians alive today didn't even vote in that election. Not to mention, making the argument that civilians are acceptable targets because of their governments actions is a slippery slope. This same line of reasoning can be used to justify the October 7th attack or 9/11.

You also need to keep in mind that any time there is a large group of people, there are going to be some bad eggs in there. The larger the group, the higher the liklihood.
