6 days ago was World Mental Health Day. We have a major mental health crisis in this nation. I wrote a paper in college many years ago about this.
Access to adequate mental health treatment is still second-class. Jails and prisons have become our defacto mental health "hospitals". The war on lethal and debilitating drugs is still rampant.
Instead, we want to dedicate an entire month to promote LGBTQRSTUV... alphabet soup crap instead of focusing on the real problems threatening this nation. They want to cry and attempt to take away guns from everyone, but they fail to address the root issues.
If I ever became a politician (hopefully not), mental health is among the top issues to tackle.

The "LGBTQRSTUV... alphabet soup crap" IS part of mental health. Also dont you find it strange that your political side talks so much about mental health but never actually does anything about it? Almost like its just a political talking point rather than something they are actually interested in solving.
I am pretty sure you would find way more "LGBTQRSTUV... alphabet soup crap" individuals observing and celebrating mental health day than MAGA, thats for sure. If I had to guess the MAGA people would just say "Man up and stop being a libtard sissy!" if you even brought up mental health.
The alphabet soup most certainly is an example of a mental health crisis. Although, leftist politicians tend to promote this mental illness rather than addressing it. In addition, while most certainly not always the case, mental illness can pose a significant public safety issue if it gets out of hand. I am not talking about violence either. Mental illness overwhelms health and public safety resources and costs the nation billions. Instead of slapping a bandaid on mental health, we should be treating this as a primary issue to be addressed.
Ahahaha! And which party do you think is the most likely to address mental health? For the record, I would pay good money to see Trump go up on stage and talk about the importance of men feeling comfortable to express their feelings rather than to internalize all their issues until it blows up.
Trump, I can recall, has expressed his frustration before on the closure of mental hospitals. Many who experience a mental health crisis are stuck in the ER until a bed becomes available at a psych facility. It is an issue that is often neglected on both sides of the political isle. There was a crisis in Michigan where a mentally ill child was unable to get the resources he needed. The dem governor in that state turned a blind eye. Likewise, we are experiencing a mental health crisis here in Tennessee and in other red states. The state closed down Lakeshore hospital in Knoxville, yet failed to build another state facility. Patients in the region are shunted down to Chattanooga.
... You do realize that the mental health hospitals that Trump wants to re-instate are the old psychiatric ones where they locked up mentally unhealthy people and basically tortured them right? There is a very good reason why we stopped doing that.
Also, healthcare in USA is mostly privatized. You dont really get to blame the government for how badly its run unless you support the government taking over control and the costs.
Where did Trump explicitly define how a mental health institute shall be ran? You are talking to a guy who has been hospitalized before. These hospitals are not draconian. Yes, the system could most certainly be improved. Yes, I believe there are certain circumstances where an individual needs to stay longer to be further evaluated and treated. These facilities only ensure a bare-minimum stabilization to where a person is not an immediate danger, but very little follow-up and preventative care is done.
The hospitals Trump is thinking of disappeared before you were born however Trump remembers them. You might think your experience was not that bad, however the ones before that really did torture people, both for personal sadistic reasons and for medical reasons but I dont think the excuse matters in the end since torture is torture.
Also Trump does not want these hospitals to help people. He wants to put people away so they dont get seen in public. These hospitals would work more as internment camps than actual places of healing.
Oh fuckin cry a river.
We don’t like to encourage stupid behavior.
