Medicaid was passed under President LBJ. It was seen and written as a short-term solution until Universal Healthcare was passed. So, when you complain about how Medicaid is bad, remember, it wasn't written to last as long as it has. The fact it has lasted far longer than intended, shows how good it actually is.

It works well, but not nearly as well as Medicare. That said, conservatives believe that anything that benefits anyone but themselves directly shouldn't exist, no matter the number and severity of problems that may cause. For instance, they do not believe that diseases can be contagious, and are therefore oppose to vacines.
Most old conservatives love Medicare. When Obama was revamping healthcare there were people holding signs that said "Obama, keep your government hands off my Medicare". Apparently, they didn't realize that the only reason he has Medicare is because of the federal government.
No. Conservatives believe everyone should look out for themselves. It's in the name. Conserve what you have because some day you may need it. Savers vs. spenders.
@Ariesman81 Ask the average senior citizen if they like their Medicare, and they'll say yes. Granted, a good number have Part C, which isn't really Medicare, but it is only given to Medicare eligible people.
I think most are just surprised it's still functioning. Ask my father about it and he'll tell you horror stories of how inefficient the the billing, coding, and appointment scheduling is. Sure, it's nice when the bill gets paid, but the amount of bullshit up to that point is ridiculous.
@Ariesman81 If Medicare didn't deny most claim every January, it'd be easier. I worked in coding and the first 3 months required reviewing every Medicare denial to ensure that the person actually had it.
lol. keep spinning that till you believe it.
Um, anyone who researches Medicaid knows this. Even under Richard Nixon, Universal Healthcare was considered a foregone conclusion.
So the "no kings" folks now want government to provide bandaids.
Because they're not offering anything better.
who's not offering anything better?
The government
That's because the government is horrible at offering services. See the DMV and TSA
Most people seem to like Medicare
No they don’t
Simple (fake) truths in a simple diagram for simple minds. You've bought the propaganda slave. Here's an attempt to diagram (in 6 charts) the current fucking mess of privatized health insurance for profit in the USA. You think a single payer system would be more complex than this disaster that isn't working for 90% of the population?
@Mike_Whocheese_Harry,
Yes they do.
LBJ created entitlement in this country and made people bitches to government.
If I pay into a program all my working life so that old people can have healthcare that is an entitlement because we paid into it with the promise we would also benefit from it. The government gets money from us and is supposed to use it to support society. It's not free we paid in advance for it later. It's not being a bitch if I pay into something now that is designed for you later. That's the same point if social security. We pay for 40-50 years to help us have income later in life. It's not like the government is funding it and we expect it for free just because lol. We are funding it they hold it, use it for whatever they want, lose it, and then say we don't have any for you, and stop bitching you little brat. So what we fucked you over lol
@Friendlybro79
The initial design of SS was a 1:1 system. Had it stayed that way, everything would have been fine. But, you're right, it didn't.
It created a pool of money within the government that is extremely tempting for corruption to latch onto, which is what happened. And now, social security, is a ponzi scheme. And those who paid into it feel entitled to get their money back.
Which is why I said LBJ created entitlement. He forced people to pay into a program that they had no control of. And worse yet, as evidenced by the failings of SS, wanted to take even more freedom away from how you save and pay for healthcare.
But entitlement programs do make us bitches to the government.
Social Security was created long before LBJ.
Would you feel better if I said LBJ created another form of entitlement?
