If I actually wanted to make an argument against them, I would have gone from another angle. This is just something to consider. Most prescription drugs for constipation are now illegal in states that outlaw abortion due to how they act.

Because drugs do the same general thing. Let's look at two heartburn drugs that are pretty widely used. Prilosec and Prevacid. They're different drugs but act in the same way to reduce heartburn. Most prescription constipation drugs work by constricting smooth muscle, because when all else fails (laxatives, enema, etc.) that's the only thing that'll work.

They aren't. Guys can use them. Women who aren't pregnant can use them. Give them to men or postmenopausal women and it's fine. They can't be illegal because they only cause problems if the woman is pregnant. The drugs aren't illegal, prescribing them for a pregnant woman, or a woman who may become pregnant fairly soon is illegal. It also only causes a problem if the fetus is implanted. If the egg isn't fertilized and the fetus implanted, no harm, no foul.

Actually it does, because the only reason it can't be prescribed to pregnant women or soon to be pregnant women is because of what it does. In states without those laws it is legal to prescribe them to pregnant women, so clearly the abortion law is the determining factor in prescribing such drugs. Now to say why I wouldn't use this argument to argue agaisnt abortion laws is because there is a VERY SMALL number of women for which this would be an issue. We need a fertile woman who is either pregnant or soon to be pregnant and she needs to seek medial attention to alleviate constipation. I, however, imagine there are other drugs that might also affect pregnancy which would be illegal to prescribe in certain cases. My education level in medicine is about equal to about 1/2-1 year in medical school.

Depends on where you are. Why do you think ads for drugs mention the effects on pregnant women. They say "you shouldn't take", not you cannot take. In some states due to laws, you actually cannot take.
