Trump is opposed to a foreign company buying up a major US company and potentially using it as a way of importing their own product as a us product? Remember Joe Biden also opposes this. The us needs to hold on to it's domestic industries or it will end up like Britain.

Profit and efficiency matter more than false national pride.

Trump is a fucking idiot who will oppose everything out of habit, than any facts or knowledge. It makes him feel "important". Biden on the other hand understands the give and take of politics.

U. S. Steel is trash and it's mostly just government contracts keeping it running. Nippon is well run and profitable. So of course it will make sense to both for a merger. You seem ill informed as to how the manufacturing game works. Nippon will not need to "import" as much, as they will instead be able to make it at U. S. Steel plants. U. S steel get to keep jobs, and make a profit.

Britain, unlike America, does pretty well at what it manufactures and it has tight contracts for foreign companies. Unlike the USA, where you can just write a check for every law you want to break.

That was the argument given in Britain when they allowed foreign companies to take over its industries. Britain is now dependent on Chinese steel and all it's car manufacturer plants have closed.

Britain barely has a domestic industry that isn't foreign owned. Name a British car brand and I guarantee it's owned by a European company, Japanese, American or China and is basically a foreign car, designed abroad with uses foreign parts and is basically a foreign car rebadged

I am left very much so. But I agree with Biden and Trump on this.
Not to sure about the whole tariff thing that's probably not going to end well, but the idea one's own country should try keep a level of independence just makes sense.

However I won't lie I'm not informed on what the deal overall would impact and anything to do with steel, and honestly I doubt many do because it's a boring government issue. So maybe in someway the deal would be better, and America still has plenty to independent on and overall it wouldn't mean much.
But the idea to not allow it also makes sense and I trust the ones at the top know more about it than I do, so in this one rare case I trust Trump more with this he is a business man after all.

President Trump is working on a pro America agenda. Foreign companies shous not be buying domestic companies, especially big steel companies. Nippon will gut US Steel and ship all the jobs to Japan. They will use it as a conduit to get US government contracts. All the union guys that are screaming will be out on the street and the factories will close.
