A man in his 20s has become the first person prosecuted in Northern Ireland over comments made online, which were found to recklessly express an opinion supportive of a proscribed organisation.

In this landmark case, Ciaran Kilifin from west Belfast was sentenced at Belfast Crown Court, having pleaded guilty to the offence of support for a proscribed organisation under the Terrorism Act 2000.

The 27-year-old was sentenced to 12 months suspended for two years.

He will be subject to terrorism notification requirements for a period of 10 years.

Absolutely correctly done.

So to anyone confused.

The man basically went on and said "Kill these people! You guys hate them, kill them!" and kept trying to make other people act violently.

Calls to violence is not "supporting a group online". The only novelty here is the online media.
