So if the Americans want to have their passports updated by their lawful President, that's a matter for your American laws and procedures. That said, I wonder if the Republicans do really well in the 2026 mid term elections and control the two chambers plus the presidency - does that mean a law change to allow third or fourth terms or even a removal of the two terms through a new constitution amendment?

I guess time will tell and polling results at the midterm elections will tell. Again, it's for the American voting public and American legislature to decide along with I don't know what laws your American presidential powers.

Despite my thoughts on it, wherever there might be anti-American sentiment abroad, I seriously doubt Trump's likeness on the inside front cover of a passport is going to make any difference one way or the other. The only one who sees the passport on arrival in a country is the customs/immigration official, who's interested in the ID page and probably couldn't care less about the front and back inside covers. I never had to show a passport to anyone else. Rental car counter: license and credit card; hotel: credit card or cash, and possibly reservation confirmation. Merchants: money or credit card if you buy something. People on the street aren't going to ask for a passport let alone ask to see the inside cover.

Apparently you haven't been traveling much lately. It's bad enough to travel on a US passport since you don't usually get a friendly reception. Since Trump has been president. I would just as soon not advertise to other people that I'm an American or that Trump's picture is on the outside cover of my passport. Yet another reason why I'm getting a passport in another country.

I often go to countries that are usually targeted by Trump quite often... with my Texan passport, Texas plates and Texas all the same... at least with me, they're very welcoming every time

Still, I have found that once the financial transaction is finalized, the attitude often comes through, and it's not pleasant. When I had a different sort of passport and the same financial abilities and preferences. I did not experience this sort of thing. But don't take my word for it. Ask a few other Americans and see what kind of responses you get.
