I think long term, both can be viable forms of employment (well latter would be if unionized, pursuing similar gigs to compliment acting like modelling and commercial work), but for short term they may be easy to enter although come with the same issues: inconsistent schedules, paradoxically bad reliability, terrible pay, dealing with shady people, etc. However for security guard I'd need to pay hundreds of dollars for the training, background check, exams, and licensing whereas for background actor, I have to pay commission fees to the agencies or even annual membership fees (some do) and the pay is painfully slow/bureaucratic. Still worth doing either because they both are always in demand, pretty much anybody can qualify for it, and how the job operates is quite transparent/obvious (especially in this economy where pink collar jobs are as unlikely as winning the lottery to get, whereas gig apps are very unreliable due to strict rules and weird algorithms along with low pay).

Currently as things stand america is on track to lose more of its democracy and constitutional rights day by day. Yet despite having republican majority in not only the house and supreme court, the current administration will blame former presidents and democrats for all the problems the republicans are currently causing.

Since the current administration knows the majority of republican voters will always support the current administration no matter what without double checking them. It simply wouldn't be surprising once democracy, and the American's constitutional rights are cut just because the republican voters were blindsided by the propaganda they've messaged and ran on to get elected. Since republican voters did not decide to do background checks and think critically we will be left with asking, will republicans stand up for America's freedom and values or let them fade away?

Crossing guard is part time, barely above minimum wage, contractual obligation to work during school months, and gotta pass a background check to make sure I'm not a pedophile. Garbage man is full time, moderately above minimum wage with chance for more pay over time, essential job so can never be laid off if economy worsens, and very physically demanding. However though, crossing guard being part time and super easy to do allows me enough time and effort to further dedicate the next few months for my startup to take off, whereas garbage man I can finally achieve financial independence in a short time frame (months instead of years if I relied on startup) and I don't have to be at home with my weird family.

Of course, it's up to the employers if they wanna hire me or not based on available positions and how fucked or easy the hiring process is, and if I can be offered to work as either, I still don't know which to choose. I've checked other public sector jobs in my city, and sadly they're not eligible for me as I either lack the necessary credentials and/or the relevant work experience (so volunteering, freelancing, transferrable, etc don't count). I basically gave up on applying for private sector jobs, since I've applied to probably thousands at this point over the past decade with almost no success besides some interviews that got me nowhere. And also because the economy is so fucking terrible, along with employers not wanting to hire full time positions nor provide benefits nor pay a liveable wage.

The US Army just swore in four tech executives as Lieutenant Colonels: Shayam Sankar, the CTO of Palantir (Peter Thiel’s company), Andrew Bosworth, the CTO of Meta (Mark Zuckerberg’s company) and OpenAI’s chief product officer Kevin Weil and former chief research officer Bob McGrew, (the company belonging to Sam Altman.)

These four men are all now one rank away from a General. Second-in-command for field-grade officers. There are 16 ranks lower than a Lieutenant Colonel and these four untrained civilians just leapfrogged over soldiers who have dedicated their entire career and lives to the US military.

Apparently, these men are going to work on “targeted projects to help guide rapid and scalable tech solutions to complex problems.” A sentence that means absolutely nothing because clearly this is just a way of giving these companies access to top-secret information without them having to go through any pesky background checks. If that doesn’t scare you, it really should, because we already know that Palantir is building a massive centralized database using much of the information they acquired from DOGE, Elon Musk’s foray into the American government.

These billionaire tech-bros are compiling lists of our most sensitive information. Our tax records, medical data, bank accounts, Social Security information, immigration status, etc. This administration is allowing them to build the infrastructure for techno-feudalism. Authoritarianism in the form of data and surveillance.

The people who are using the government against you are now taking over military authority. The corruption is calculated and staggering. And I can only hope that our veterans and active-duty military are paying incredibly close attention. And now that you know you should be talking about it.
