Why is my ex-girlfriend being flaky with me?

My ex-girlfriend broke up with me about 6 months ago. We have talked off and on since. We even have hung out a couple times. about 3 months after the break up she said she loves me and wants to try and work things out. After hanging out she backed off again. We still love each other. Think she broke up with me because she wanted a ring and I wasn't ready to give it. This time apart has shown me how much I do love her and want to be with her. She says she wasn't happy and needed time to figure things out. She sends me messages saying she misses me and has been thinking of me and wants to hang out. When I respond or start to talk to her again. She ignores me and is "busy". It's like she wants her cake and eat it too. She wants me when I avoid and ignore her but when I come around toward her she gives me the cold shoulder. I am sick of games. Either be with me or not. She doesn't have an answer for me. But its been 6 months and I do want to be with her. What should I do?

Be up-front and honest and tell her that you see this as a cycle of unnecessary game-playing. I think you should be careful about entering another relationship with her. Consider why you didn't want to move forward in the first place; you may discover that she wasn't the right match for you after all. 'Absence makes the heart grow fonder,' but much of the time that fondness is due to the comfort level you experienced while you were in the relationship, not a realistic view of how the relationship really had been.

She wants to keep you just interested enough so you can't/won't/don't move on. Doesn't sound like she really wants to be with you, but she doesn't want anyone else to be with you either. It's selfish behavior. Let her know you want a commitment from her. If she wants to feed you another line of BS, I'd say it's time to walk and let your ex be just that. your ex.
