Question

This girl and I had been talking for over a month and we seemed to get along really well and we were progressing pretty fast. She first asked me out at the gym we both work at now currently and she would talk to two mutual friends of ours and ask them about me and that's how we started talking. I've been there for her and she would be a little bit supportive of me but it did seem to kind of be about her a little bit more. I didn't spend hundreds of dollars on her or anything. We would talk like any other couple would just without the title because she wasn't ready to get into a relationship and deep down neither was I. I know she really cared about me cuz she would tell me how much she would miss me through the day and sent me things that would make me feel like she really cared. I almost broke up with her one time because she plan to move a way to study abroad but she stopped me from doing it but one thing that struck me as odd was that she said that her parents were coming that weekend and didn't want the weekend to be ruined by us breaking up. I really like this girl but a few days ago she just stopped talking to me the same out of the blue and my friend thinks that she just lost interest. She bailed on something she had been wanting to go to all week and intern went to two parties up in Chico the nights prior so she said she was worn out. At work she's very short with me so yesterday I broke up with her through a text cuz she didn't want to meet me in person. I just flat out told her that I still cared about her, told her how much she meant to me, and give specific examples, but I thought that it would be best we don't continue being together. To wish she replies "okay.." I asked one of my female friends what that could mean and she said that she would say that to a guy if she just didn't care. Is she right or could this mean something else? This is just a very confusing situation.

Plus, you've said at start. You two moved pretty fast. Maybe she was having doubts about you, maybe she was having doubts about herself.
You straight on went for the simplest explanation you could come up with and did a stupid thing. If you've really cared about her, you could've waited for her a little bit.

I don't understand why people say breaking up over a text is rude. Like if you love somebody a lot and that person and relationship is toxic or they don't love you the same, breaking up in person is extremely hard and there's a bigger chance you might even run back into their arms if they begged (after seeing them or hearing their voices). You did the right thing and she doesn't seem to care, you could do better.

There is no handbook for breakups. It's awkward. Either make it quick and clear. Or if you just care too much go through the relentless try to be the cause and comfort. Either way it's an end and ends are the death of something. It's just bad. Best to understand that.

I suspect that she might have talked and/or slept with somebody else at the parties, that's why she was avoiding you. As far as the "okay," I think she sounded indifferent, and it could be due to finding somebody new.

She didn't explain anything about it and did not want to me in person may be loss of interest , are u sure nothing else is happening with her or something she might be having a hard time dealing with other things I don't know. I suspect she is upset but a one-way relationship will be much harder on everyone. I suppose you should both learn from this. I don't think that having that sort of conversation over text was rude, people might see you as more coward-ish over text but I could imagine it to be a lot harder to say the things you text but face-to-face.
