To people who have an ex: Do you regret all the time and years?

And all the money you spent out of your pocket on your ex/their family? Is it normal to feel regret or it's part of life & should move on? How to deal with feelings of intense regret?

I was so angry about how much money I spent trying to impress an ex because it was my first relationship where I had some income and my heart was controlling my finances as well as all things mature that cannot be managed by how you feel, simply put. But now, well, I don't know the expectation I guess that should be made clear, what kind of dates are special occasions and what's normal, who does what, how much of the time, it's like the beginning of what it would be like to be married to them cause you'd combine your incomes but, people don't think about it I guess until it's a problem. I wasn't mad about the money until it wasn't strengthening any connection we had left, it was more about the loss I experienced emotionally than it ever was about any little money I had in my early 20s. Money is the excuse we use, but there's there's a lot to unpack about how much we value the person in our relationship beyond transactions. I only ever liked one family of a boy I was seeing, but every family has weirdos, so no it's okay to depart from in-laws, anytime.

I probably regret money I spent on my ex, but honestly money is money, I simply move on. As for time, I don’t regret time because I learned lots about myself dating certain people and have evolved into an overall better person by finding my faults in relationships / eliminating certain types of men from my standards. I just look at time spent with people that aren’t in my life as learning lessons and I move on

I regret some things but not all. I regret the wasted time I spent trying to hold on to my ex. I regret that I let myself be used and mistreated. I regret that I didn’t face the truth earlier than I did. On the other hand if I never met my ex I would not be where I am now. I would not have my children who are my everything. I would not have met the woman I am with now and finally know what it’s like to be in a relationship with someone who cares about me and my feelings as much as I do hers

I regret I invested in broken person I did the best I could but nothing did work and she was so broken inside that she believed nothing. I didn't spend much cash on her luckily. But my time and my energy and attention was too much. Unfortunately sometimes we learn in hard way

Even though she's kind of evil I don't regret the years I spent with her. It's because she was really hot, like ridiculously hot.
I regret that she's so evil, and also that I didn't enjoy every moment with her because I thought we had the rest of our lives together. I was too inexperienced to know how to navigate that relationship and get the most out of it.
