That sounds like a list of hurdles most people have to hop over in a marriage? I would hate to have to be perfect. Physical violence would be a problem for me.

That's a very healthy way of interpreting this poll. It's what my intention certainly was, wanting people to constructively consider why people get divorced, and what they can do, to strengthen their relationships to prepare for a successful marriage, or if they're already married, they strengthen the relationship they have already.

I got divorced bc my ex was acting like a man child. If you are not doing your fair share of work in the relationship, getting irrationally jealous (at family at that) and controlling then you can go screw your self in my opinion

Couldn't agree more. Marriage is about teamwork, and being excessively selfish is inappropriate for any relationship.

All of those things are ground for divorce, but unrealistic expectations wouldn't exist alone.

I wouldn't be able to stay if she were toxic towards me for a period of time and I could see no way of improving the relationship.

Do you see constant testing as toxic? Or are you referring to other behaviors deemed as toxic? Would you care to elaborate on what exactly you mean by the term, toxic?

She never knowingly opened her mouth towards me one entire year without it being discourteous, dismissive, or disrespectful. It was pretty awful and very personal.
Constant testing sounds like she's trying to work out what the limits of your tolerance are. Tedious but not necessarily a red flag. Perhaps she just needs reassurance.
