Why won’t abusers just leave you alone once you leave them?

I left my abusive ex about a month ago. I’m pregnant and he was abusive before I was pregnant and when he hit me while I was carrying his child, that’s when I finally made the decision to leave for good. I didn’t change my number like I have in the past when I left him. I have just been teaching myself to be strong and ignore his constant texts from text free numbers but it’s like he just won’t accept the fact that I’m figuring out my self worth finally and I’m realizing he never really loved me or cared for me. I’m doing this for the safety of my child and for myself as well.

Because they can't deal with the thought of not having control over you. That's what makes them feel powerful, having the control over another person and once you break away it eats at them. They want that feeling of control back

sadly you'll be dealing with him for a longggggg time. you are having a child together. i'd suggest getting a restraining order asap if you haven't already.
