How do you accept that your ex is doing a lot better without you?

We talked the other day and he basically just told me how well he was doing and the advances he was making in his life ever since our breakup. Of course, I said I was happy for him but deep down it stings..

I’d say to just make peace with it, so you can feel genuine happiness for him and focus on yourself and your own betterment. Whatever happened between you two, you can’t change the past but it’s nice to know that there’s no bad blood between you two, he’s not struggling or hurting and he’s doing ok. When you really love someone, you want the best for them and you can be happy for their accomplishments whether they include you or not. Who knows, maybe he would’ve done just as good with you and just hadn’t made it there yet — you don’t know and never will, but it just doesn’t matter. Time to let go and move on.

Yeah, of course. I basically just said I was focusing on my schooling and stuff. Keep in mind we were together for 5 years. I missed him, I reached out, we talked.. but didn't seem like the feeling was mutual. Just stings.. makes me feel like maybe I was the problem, you know? Holding him back.

It’s NEVER like that. There’s always a 50/50 issues when people part. It is definitely not you only. 5 years is a longtime…figure out what you like and will tolerate and what you will not ⁉️
