What is the worst way someone has ever broken up with you?

Question

This is in regards to how someone broke up with you, not how you broke up with them.

In my case, he left without saying anything, no goodbye or anything and moved over 1500 miles away, he abandoned me.

I really loved him too, thought we had a great future together.

I was so worried, thought something happened to him. Was in a major panic for days before I found out he had moved.

He changed me, damaged me and I got body dysmorphic disorder. Thinking something was wrong with me and that is why he left.

I know now something was wrong with him, but still doesn't make it hurt any less.

How about you? What is your most painful or worst way someone has left you?

I ran off to go see my friends after a class meeting in the auditorium (this was my Senior year of high school), and uh I don't know, my boyfriend at the time really didn't like that, but I wanted to see them and talk to them, so I did. After catching up with them, I went to go look for him so I could apologize for running off suddenly like that, and when I did find him, he was extremely irritated and he dragged me to the cafeteria and we sat at a table and he just stared at me like he wanted to kill me lmao..

He didn't say anything, and I got scared and started crying, so he grabs my arm, and it really hurt, and he drags me to the girl's bathroom in the lobby and he just kinda slings me in there and is like, "Come out when you're done whining", so y'know, I cry it out and when I come out, he's gone and I go ahead and head to my next period, where I was doing library assistant duty.

By the end of the period, I get a text from him and I don't wanna open it, because I already know what it is, as I've gone through this several times before with him. One of my friends had to convince me finally open it, I do, and it's basically just a unnecessarily long break up message about how he doesn't love me anymore and that we're not compatible and that uh, he hates me, think's I'm retarded, etc lmao..

It was the worst one out of all of the times he did. And I know, I'm the idiot for dealing with it, but I was peer pressured into dating when I didn't even care about that stuff at the time and guilt tripped by him. He wouldn't leave me alone and sent me multiple emails every year, said he had severe depression and felt like he was gonna kill himself, developed a drug addiction and alcohol problem and he even tried to fight my mom.

It was just a mess, and all the friends who peer pressured me into it all dropped out, so I was on my own for awhile until I met my friends for my Junior and Senior years. That was a lot to deal with as a 14-17 year old girl.

I was 16. He was my first boyfriend. We had arranged to just stay in and watch T. V. When I got to his house, he was dressed up as if he was going out for a night out. He said to come to his friends with him, as he had something to collect from him.

As we walked down the street he told me he didn't want to see me anymore. He then walked away. I walked to the bus stop with tears rolling down my cheeks. On my way home, I saw him get on a bus, sit next to a girl and kiss her. I was heartbroken

A week later, his mum rang me to ask how I was. I pretended I was ok though. She told me he was seeing a girl behind my back who he'd met at college. She kept ringing the house , but his mum told her he had a girlfriend. His mum apologized to me for her sons behavior. She was very compassionate towards me.

It took about 6 months to move on from the hurt.. When I was 21, I was out with my friends and I saw him. He had the nerve to ask me out. Obviously I turned him down.

The thing I hate about this site is that it makes you relive the worst days of your life. I met a girl at a new years party hosted by a friend from college. She was the friend of the host's sister and we hung out the whole night. We had an awesome kiss at midnight and made plans to go out again. I don't know what it was about this girl, maybe she had magic pheromones or something but I quickly fell in love with her. She was all I could think about. We dated for a few months. The week after Thanksgiving she tells me that she was busy with school and We could not see each other. I told her that I was going to this bar in town with my college friend to watch the hockey game. When I went to the bar I saw my girlfriend sitting with her old boyfriend from high school and it was obvious they were not just catching up. I was completely blindsided by this. I got up and left and she looked right at me. I expected her to follow me outside but she just let me go. In the days to follow I expected her to call me and apologize or explain or something but I never heard from her. I was going through a real shitty time in my life and all of a sudden I get dumped by somebody I really loved.

It was years ago in high school. My girlfriend and I worked together and we were scheduled to work together one night. She didn't show and just after we closed my manager told me I had a phone call. It was my girlfriend telling me she was breaking up with me. No reason given just that she wanted to still be friends and was looking forward to working with me. So there I was heartbroken and in tears covered in grease and ketchup with a pissed off manager who just wanted to go home.

Then there was a long distance relationship while in college. She never broke up with me just became distant for a couple of months and completely avoided me when I came to visit. I saw her for 5 minutes and then she hid for the next two days so I asked a mutual friend if he knew where she could be and he said "She's probably with Jesse they have been dating for the last couple of months" He must have seen my face and said. "Oh, I thought you guys broke up, I'm sorry." I never spoke to her again but that did set off the begining of my alcohol abuse that lasted for years to come.

I felt my ex was growing distant the last week we were together and I could see it coming. Played it off and tried to keep myself from stressing. To keep myself going and focused and to treat her to a good weekend I cancelled my shifts for work to take her snowboarding and skiing for an early Valentine's Day treat. She texted me that same day I did it saying she wasn't happy and broke up with me over text. That was a kick to the nuts. Ended up calling my boss back asking for my shifts, I mean might as well do something to take my mind off the hurt.

Then the other was with a woman I really liked. Clicked well on humor, values, and time always flew by with her. Just wasn't looking for a relationship and ultimately just stopped talking to me one day. Those two really left me low and in a funk for a long time.

My ex broke up with me when i was pregnant with his kid. He called me whore and said that the child was not his. That was the worst part when I was at the hospital to drop my plans of giving birth with no money in hand alone by myself he ghosted on me didn’t even come for the procedure didn’t even pay for anything at all even after me requesting him for numerous times. If I hadn’t had this guy whom i care for more than my own brother if it wasn’t for him I would’ve been dead. He saved my life that day. In my country single moms are not acceptable that’s the reason I had to give up on the most beautiful opportunity called motherhood.

I’ve had break ups from short high school flings. I think I’ve had a couple partners break up with me back then. But I don’t even consider those relationships to be real love at all at this point. I wouldn’t say those break ups really effected me that much.
