I have not had that exact experience of realizing that I loved the person after they were no longer in my life. I think you should Risk since you have nothing to lose. It is better to get rejected than not try and never know what the deal is. Go for it and send him a text or Insta or something.

No, but I look at love differently than most. I do not consider the butterflies or feelings. I look at it as a choice I make.
