Why would he keep changing the subject?

My boyfriend and I got into a fight where he randomly just started accusing me of cheating on him and we broke up. He later called me to tell me he was joking. I didn’t understand what happened and was trying to get him explain but he was pretending like nothing happened and kept changing the subject. He dumped me to acting like it didn’t happened and refuses to explain anything.

I doubt he joking, he just doesn't want to discuss because he doesn't have rock solid proof or he feels like anything he says that points to it, will just be met with denial and regardless of whether it's accurate or not

Either way, it's best to move on. The second he gets these kind of thoughts, he'll analyze everything, trust nothing, question everything, and likely only consider the things that reinforce the idea that you are

Something changed that made him question you. Maybe something you said or something you did. It can be something small you wouldn't even babe guessed

This happened to me last year. He projected himself and what he was doing. He did cheat on me.

Sounds to me like someone is filling his head up with shit, mostly if it's unusual behavior from that person

Chances r he heard something. Accused you and then couldn't own up to his mistake or he's cheated and accused you of doing so, so he doesn't feel bad and gives him an excuse

If this was the case I'd imagine he'd try to get back into relationship. He doesn't want to talk about it likely because it would implicate him for having not respected your privacy to get the details, something someone told him that he doesn't want to share and out the person who told him, or lastly he doesn't want to be manipulated into being convinced that what he believes is wrong
