Is my ex trying to get my attention by changing his profile picture to an actor I love?

I am obsessed with the movie Rocky. I post images from the movie, listen to the soundtrack and quote it in my everyday conversations. My ex changed his profile picture to Rocky’s brother-in-law Pauly. The actor passed away earlier this month. My ex and I are not friends on social media. Is this a way to try to connect with me and get my attention? Like he could have posted it on his wall but the public can see his profile picture.

You’re asking if he’d just assume you’re stalking his social media to where you’d see the profile pic? Since you aren’t friends that’s the only way to know. If he was fond of the actor and he literally died within the month, I wouldn’t make him changing his profile pic to that person about me.

Thanks for that point of view. I left out that this was our game before we started dating. We would go back and forth with songs, movie quotes, memes, pictures. Like I would post drawing of two birds flying in the sky then he would post a song about two birds being in love flying high together. So when I saw that picture on his profile that’s public verses just posting on his page that’s blocked I assumed he wanted a non friend to see.

Yes, does he assume I would look or post the image in hopes I would look and feel connected again like we used to.

Thanks for adding that context, because with that in mind specifically I’d say it’s not far fetched for him to have done that on your behalf. Don’t fall for the bait though, then he’d be right that you were still checking in on him and you don’t want that. I don't know why you two split but in most cases those issues would still be a factor, it would be just a matter of time til they caused friction. You’re better moving on from your ex, he has nothing new to say.
