Why did this make him so mad?

I was talking with my ex and we got into an argument about something. He just started talking to someone literally a week ago and I made a comment about how he’s treating her better than he ever treated me. For some reason this made him really mad. I’m thoroughly confused as to why that upset him so much.

Hmm that is kinda weird that he got so mad about that comment. Guys can sometimes be kinda sensitive about how they treated past relationships, even if it's the truth!

My best guess would be he feels guilty deep down that he knows he didn't treat you as good as he should've. By you pointing it out, it made him face that fact head on instead of ignoring it. Nobody likes confronting their own flaws or mistakes.

It's also possible he likes this new girl and wants to convince himself he's changed, so hearing you say he's still doing the same things bothers him. Or he doesn't want her to find out how he was in the past in case it scares her away.

Either way, you didn't really say anything wrong! Don't feel bad for speaking your truth. He's the one that needs to work on being a better boyfriend. Maybe now he'll actually learn from his mistakes this time. His anger says more about him than you! Just try to leave it in the past and focus on moving forward.
