As a joke I told my children my husband hates them and I have to cancel their birthday party we are sick but I am angry at him he wants a divorce?

I was joking because I was mad at him. He said to stop turning up the heat to 90 then opening the front door and the windows for a several hours when it's snowing and we are sick. I heard that is a great way to strengthen your immune system.

He was mad I wouldn't let him get Claritin so he would feel better. Claritin is full of toxins he should just use an apple cider vinegar eye wash and pray God heals him.

He tried to door dash it but I promised to get it and called him seven times to ask if he still wanted it then forgot. I also lost both sets of car keys and we had to have the car towed and new keys made.

I really don't want my kids over from my first marriage. But I tell my ex and the kids he hates them so they are afraid of him. my husband says whenever the come over I starts fights with him and he doesn't sleep well. He doesn't think I treat them nice.

It's a joke. He has no sense of humor. He says I need mental helo or he can't listen to this anymore. He is also upset I broke his glasses and threw away his birth certificate and ss card so he can't get his license renewed.. It's a joke! He is negative he needs to be positive.

From the few things you say in your post, you are over-controlling. I doubt this "joke" was the only problem in your relationship, but it is what broke it. He'll be better off without you.

If your partner is often the butt of the humor they can get tired of it and become annoyed by it. It might be not so much him taking it personally but just being annoyed. Just as a comedian needs to read the room, you might need to read the lounge room and vary the humor... if you get the point. I've had to.

Sometimes jokes become stale and the humor style itself can be annoying to someone else.

But I have to watch it with partners because I can be seen as being critical all the time. And it can become a joke that it is just a joke. As you are saying you are trying to make him stronger I'd guess you are targeting some aspects of him. It can become carping, akin to nagging, and it is not weak to object to that.
