Why is my ex suddenly acting like this?

I wasn't dating this guy but we had something going on I would say. He met a girl late last year and became distant. They got together but he never told me they were officially a couple and still communicated to me like nothing happened. It wasn't until I found out about it that he decided to make his choice and choose her. He never had plans to date me or take me serious according to him. I tried to contact him the next month after it happened but he said he was over the situation and would never miss me. He didn't care about what we had and tried to make it seem like it was all in my head.

We hadn't talked in months after that but randomly he's been contacting me. I made the mistake by answering my phone and having a conversation with him. It surprised me that he remembered stuff between us because the last time we spoke he made it seem like everything "we had" was all in my head. Every month its like he is pestering me and desperately trying to get in contact with me. I can still tell he is still dating the girl.
