Why is my ex acting like this?

I know before I say anything I’m going to be told to block him but I just want to try and understand his weird behaviour.

We fell out a couple of weeks ago due to miscommunication and have been speaking about the situation recently. I admitted I’ve been talking to someone new and so has my ex and he has told me to go off with the guy. He then told me he misses me but he doesn’t know if we will work. After that he told me to leave him alone but he kept messaging me until I replied to him.

After this we got into another argument he started and I said to him “everyone was right about you different woman every week” and he replied with “different woman every night get it right” he then sent me another 3 messages which I ignored. So today I’ve woke up to a message off him saying “you sent me a photo”. Obviously I haven’t but what the hell! Why would he say that.

Any opinions on to why he’s acting like this would be helpful thanks
