The best idea is when you seek revenge, dig two graves: one for yourself. Gets you nowhere. Your ex "influenced" you. He did not force you to overspend: you chose to do it. You stayed with him though you knew he was cheating on you. You allowed him to use you.

I don't know WHY you did this, but seek to heal yourself by never allowing YOURSELF to be used, cheated on or negatively influenced in the future. Get as far away from this dud as you can! Living WELL is the best revenge.
