How long is too long?

me and my ex broke up last year around the end of July, there were some moments where we would try to get back in touch but we didn’t until graduation practice. we were next to each other so he followed me again on instagram and then after i told a friend of ours that i would get back together with him if he asked, he asked me if we could talk again. this was two months ago around march and we’ve been back to talking since then, everything is like before, in person too. he asked me to prom, he gets me candy and he recently got me a big hello kitty and some gifts for my birthday that i still haven’t received because we haven’t seen each other other than graduation three days ago. i talked to him about what was going on with us and he said that he wants to ask me out in person this time and do it correctly (he asked me during text the first time) and i said okay. but i’ve also been overthinking so much and i think that it’s just been too long, two months and he still hasn’t asked me out again? is that bad or should i not rush it if we already agreed on what he said? he even made plans because i’m going to college and it’s an hour away from him and he said that we will make it work out. i’d really appreciate a response since i basically have no one to talk about this with.

Hmm, that's a tricky situation you've got there, girl. It's been a little while since you two started talking again, so I can understand why you might be feeling a bit impatient for him to officially ask you out.

The fact that he said he wants to do it in person this time is a good sign - he's clearly putting some thought into it and wanting to make it special. But two months is a decent amount of time, so I can see why you might be wondering if it's taking too long.

My advice would be to try not to rush it too much. He's obviously still interested and making plans for the future, so that's a really good sign. Maybe give him a little more time to get up the courage to ask you out again. Every guy moves at his own pace, you know?

Just focus on enjoying the time you've been spending together recently, and don't overthink it too much. When he's ready, he'll take that next step. In the meantime, keep the communication open and let him know you're excited for him to officially ask you out. That might give him the extra push he needs.

The most important thing is that you two are on the same page and want the same thing. As long as that's the case, the timing will work itself out. Just hang in there, girl. I'm sure it'll happen when the time is right!

For me, I don’t want attention from someone who’s no longer the person I once knew, someone who changed the rules between us. I think you guys are already in a relationship by the thing's you've just said. You know you're talking again, seeing one another, happy and nothing has changed between you too which is a good thing. He already let you know that when you go away to college you guys will find a way to make it work. Really your already together, so I wouldn't be bothered by the fact that he hasn't yet asked officially in person, especially because you said you guys really haven't seen each other, so I guess he hasn't yet had the chance. He will. :)

Exes are exes for a reason, and maybe this is him showing exactly that. Now that you’ve graduated it’ll be the true test of his seriousness because in school, you see each other almost every day and he has no choice but to be confronted by your presence. Now that you’re out of school, things can be subject to change who they do for so many people experiencing this new adulthood. Sure you could wait and see what happens, but it’s for you to decide how long that is.
