According to the classic joke... Marriage.

Realistically, having divorced myself, amicably, after 20 years of marriage, people find the reasons they got married no longer apply. In my case, a major reason we got married was to have kids and raise a family. Once the kids got older, that reason was no longer there.

Also, people do change over time, and drift apart.

You have yo check the egos at the door. There is no place for egos in relationships. You have to treat the person your with the same way you want to be treated. And if either one has an ego. Then that person always thinks they are right. And it will never work

The leading cause of divorce is beyond dispute marrying.

The second leading cause of divorce is the expectation that marriage will end in divorce. As it is now the usual outcome, it doesn't seem justified in distinguishing between married relationships and non-married relationships.

Also the justifications of relationship termination can be just that... justifications not having anything to do with the actual why's. Catch cries that are societly acceptable.

Notice the %ages given don't add up to 100% which makes them highly sus.

What is also beyond dispute is that female involvement is the leading cause of relationship termination.

Lesbian relationships terminate at twice the rate of hetero relationships which themselves are far less stable than gay relationships which have no female involvement at all. So it is not the male side.

Since wives initiate 70-80% of divorces that just further emphasises that it is female involvement that is the cause.

The answer is found in female evolutionary psychology i. e. the ancient software that all women run. It has always been to female advantage to have the best male in terms of resource provision, peer status, stoicism in crises etc etc. Women consequently continually test their man to see if he is still up to stuff. A key area of testing is to see that he can protect himself from her.

If he can't protect himself from her, than he is not going to be able to protect her is the ancient girl logic. Eventually most women grind most men down then it is time for the female to terminate.

@msc545 YT Pyschedepth particularly. Pyschacks. There are a few others which come up when you start YTing those. Some I feel are aimed at manipulating me and I have felt doubtful of but am starting to take more seriously.

Fundamentally, I have come to realize that my unconscious mind or reptilian brain or limbic or 4F brain (eqivalent terms) calls the shots in terms of which girls I lust after and my conscious mind then logicalizes reasons why I want to have sex with them.

The evidence for me was having sexual responses to girls walking past me in the street I hadn't consciously seen. A bit like jumping at squealing car brakes when our conscious mind is completely engaged on something. Our 4F brain (Feed, Flee, Fight, Fuck) is in charge at that moment till our conscious mind kicks in.

If I can get erections over girls in the street I am not consciously aware of than that is sufficient proof to me my 4F brain called it. As good as proof I can get anyway.

With much the same brain I think females would have to have equivalent 4F responses. I assume.

These channels tend to refer to the 'old programmes' or 'ancient programs' in this sense that we all still mostly run under them.

Sorry for the long response but I felt I needed to give my thinking towards these channels to be a complete answer to you. It took me a while to start accepting their thesis though I was intrigued from the get go.

In my opinion, the main cause of divorce is not just one single factor, but rather the combination of contempt, disdain, defensiveness, and stonewalling within the relationship. These behaviors create a toxic cycle that erodes trust and emotional connection over time.

Contempt and disdain are particularly damaging because they express disrespect and a lack of appreciation for the partner, which can deeply wound the relationship’s foundation. When one or both partners respond with defensiveness, it shuts down open communication and prevents resolving conflicts constructively. Stonewalling, or emotionally withdrawing and avoiding engagement, only makes things worse by creating distance and frustration.

Together, these four behaviors form what many psychologists call the “Four Horsemen” of relationship breakdown. If left unchecked, they lead to a breakdown of intimacy and partnership, making divorce much more likely. So, while many factors can contribute to divorce, this toxic pattern of interaction is often at the core.

Main thing that causes divorce these days. I have to be blunt - it’s women’s expectations.

    - women and girls tend to have higher expectations

    - listens to other females give bad advice about her own life which makes it seem like she’s indecisive herself and can’t think for herself. Getting advice from others isn’t wrong, but I’m old enough to know, not everyone has your best intentions. Others find your drama to be their delight, let that sink in.

    - women initiate divorce 80+% of the time

I know some radical feminist is going to read this and think I’m some angry “incel”. The term incel is a deep hatred for women with a psycho mindset. I can’t speak on behalf of all guy or men. But if a woman gives me her number I don’t bombard her by harassing her, I’m too tired in life to approach women and ask them out on dates.

I like to see others achieve their success what they work hard towards whether man or woman. As I get older I care less about sex so I don’t hate women, but I will call out their BS, because I can say it in a constructive manner. A lot of women in the west seem to be depressed and can't even cope with their life from what I see in public on a daily basis. If women complain and argue that mothers failed as mothers not raising their sons right. I can say the same about fathers with their daughters. A lot of girls I’ve dated I’ve had daddy issues and it’s annoying now. I can’t be some psychologist to fix a girl in her life.

Usually economic. But I am no expert.

But there is statistical data that women file for divorce twice as often as men do.

This is usually because people got married for the wrong reasons to begin with. But also I really believe the older generations had more of a sense of duty in marriage, had less temptation and most of all didn’t have wild / unreasonable expectations of what marriage would be. Entertainment, movies, social media, etc. unfortunately gives people (especially women…. no offense ladies) ridiculous expectations on what they deserve in a partner.

The question people need to ask themselves is would you 1) date someone who is exactly like you and 2) would you marry them.

people trying to led a symbiotic life style while they are separate individuals with their own individual life.

marriage is the one type of relationship that fails the most, because unlike marriages the other relationships you have like friendships and family bonds are not relying on you and the other party trying to merge your lives withtoo many expectations and responsibilities which no one has any actual interest to shoulder.

your friend wouldn't give a damn about you returning to home at the nick of dawn aside from perhaps worrying if something bad happened to you out there.

your wife or husband would flip even if they had absolute trust in you to not cheat on them.

your friend or family wouldn't care about you losing your job unlike your wife which should already be not reliant on you to have an income like every other adult you know.

Life exists because of change. Marriage is trying to hold on to one idea like it's never going to change.

So I would say, growing apart rather then growing together.

People get married because they are in love with the idea of growing together. they dont want to ever separate, thats what the idea of Marriage is. Ironically, trying to hold onto that idea is what causes it to fail. Love works because no pressure, its what you both want most. Soon as that changes, Marriage doesn't feel so good anymore. It becomes its own trap.

I think it's often communication problems..
What ends up happening often is one of the partners doesn't listen or care what their partner needs. So needs go unmet, they try to fix the problem to no avail of the partner so it makes them drift further apart until it just seems like a better idea to go your separate ways.

i think the fact that men look for partners that are exactly as they want and women look for partners with potential to eventually become what they originally wanted. that leads to a disparity between expectation and realkity for women as they realize he's never gonna develop into what she hoped him to become and (who would have guessed it) stays exactly as he was when she met him. and that's consistend with the fact that 70% of divorces are initiated by women.

The primary reason for divorce is that in our modern society, women are rewarded with the children, child support, alimony, and other resources for divorcing their husbands.

@DryGermanGuy Don't be an idiot. Women don't get married to get divorced. However, they are rewarded if they choose to get divorced. Stop rewarding women for divorcing their husbands, and the divorce rate will significantly drop.
