Why does my heart hurt when I see a pic of him?

My ex broke up with my a while ago. I went through all the stages, the bargaining, the crying, the denial, the anger, and finally the acceptance. I realized what went wrong and how he had treated me wrong. I realized I never wanted to get back together with him but I did still care for him since we were together for so many years.



I found a new guy who is really great and accepts all parts of me and admits he is falling in love with me (and I feel the same way).

Yet, I accidentally found a pic of my ex the other day and my heart hurt looking at it. I didn't want to go back, I didn't want to be with him, I'm happy with my new guy, yet it hurt looking at it. Why?

same with my ex and then I wonder if he thinks about me the same way? Are guys like that? I have these intense feeling late at night I just want him to hold me and make love to me... I don't think of the bad times, I just love him for who he is, it's very natural and instinctive. It's like he was taken from me. Sometimes I think when I am dreaming of him he dreams of me at the same time... I can't love anyone else, he stole my heart... the sad thing is I was the one who ruined things... I ended it with him... and the few times we've tried again the passion was lost(on his side). I really believe people are suppose to have one lover and you must fight for that person even after trust was broken, if you can turn your back on someone then it wan't love from the start. I'm not saying you should go back to your boyfriend but what if he is having the same feelings? I think sometimes you don't realize you love somebody until they're out of your life...

true, I believe in that... I feel like we will reconnect later in life, that kind of makes me at peace with things, just having faith..

probably memories of you both. your ex was apart of you and you loved him and vice versa. I think in general you will always love your exes in some way but you have moved on and so has he. good luck in your future relationship

Its just because it was a hurtful incident in your life.It is likely that you still have some emnants of feeling in regards to the situation.Its normal,and those emotions will pass in time.

Those feelings are a bitch huh? =P Yeah... You probably have some guarded thoughts when it comes to your ex and some unresolved issues you never got closure on.

Its a normal feeling it will go away over time. I was like that with my first love but after a year with being with another guy that "hurt" feeling went away. Your mind releases many chemicals which make you feel what you feel. Over the time of being with your ex and him hurting you .. Hurt and him became one. Its like smelling your fav food you automatically want it and become happy. Because your ex hurt you .. You feel hurt when you see his pic. It will go away over time.
