Do guys who let their pride get in the way of something they really want regret it?

My ex really wanted me back when I broke up with him. However in the end he let his pride get in the way of him getting me back. Will he regret letting his pride get in the way?

I hated having to move on with a girl, period. she didn't treat me the best and it was really bringing me down and it just ruined our friendship over time and I wanted to keep trying and trying. I thought she was worth it. I hoped she was worth it. but now I simply won't talk to her again, partially pride-related, but yeah. I still hate it. I wish things could have just worked out and she could have treated me a little more how I wanted to be treated.

I was trying and trying and all I wanted was to see a little effort from her, even if it was just being friends, maybe I could've stayed friends if she actually seemed to care even that much, but it was like she didn't and it didn't even make sense why. it's been a couple years now and I still miss her a bit. she had the most beautiful smile :(

Pride is very important indeed. He will probably not regret it too much, because when he'll think of you, he'll miss you, and then he'll remember why he didn't get back with you.

It's important to be able to look at oneself in the mirror.

If he KNOWS he could have gotten you back then sure, it will bother him. If he thought he didn't have much of a chance or if it would have been a matter of lowering himself to the point of trying to convince/beg you to get back with him, then no, he's probably glad he saved face.

Either way, if he is regretting it, it will only be until your replaced with someone new then he won't be giving it, or you much thought.

I mean self respect is a good reason to be in the way, pride however is overrated.(and thus unjustified as a reason)

As you broke up with him, its a sense of self respect not to make the first move because YOUR the one who broke up and him running back to you concidering YOUR the one who decided to break up would be a lack of self respect on his part, not pride.

No, and he shouldn't because self respect is valueable where as pride isn't.

No girl is worth throwing away your self respect

He should be. If you'd throw away your self respect over nothing, you'd probably be annoyed about it aswell, right?

I have been there and I just did not break down and tell the woman how I felt...2 years ago..now this woman is getting married and I still am alone..it sucks
