How do you know if an ex still has feelings for you?

Question title lol. I'm curious. Having some problems with my ex, with us arguing, apologizing, talking again, flirting, argument, repeat. She acts one way (flirty, smiley, texts me first, touchy at times) and then whenever I bring up "Oh do you like me?" She says she doesn't, then we argue, she says she hates me or what have you, and we makeup again as if nothing happened lol. Its happened twice now and I don't know if I want to try again...

But that's not what I'm here to ask about. Is there a universal way to know if an ex girlfriend or boyfriend still has feelings for you? What if they are suppressing/denying those feelings?

She's really interested in you. She keeps denying her feelings because she wants to see that you're pursuing her for who she is, and not for any kind of reason.
